Windows 11? I’m on Windows 10 and I’ve never had this problem.

I have never seen this happen on any computer I have ever owned or even happen to have been using when Windows Update came knocking.
If it happens to you then please check what event viewer says about it because I’ve been dying to find out myself so I can post the big brain “this happens because of XYZ” comment but it always shuts down just fine!

Okay. So this isn’t just a me problem.
So many times I’ll update and shutdown. Go to bed. And my PC is on as if it’s restarted.

I haven’t had this issue on Windows 11 in the past 8+ months. I believe they fixed what ever was causing it.

We need to do vote in some poll about it to know who gets restart and who gets shut down… I get 90% of time just restart

Happens like clockwork. Just update & restart then shut down.

I updated and shutdown my computer yesterday, came back from the washroom to it being on. Logged on, it didn’t even fully update :/

I believe that at some point Microsoft changed the process of updating, and even with the “update and shutdown” PC restarts, but mine always shuts down afterwards once it’s done.

Luckily, I usually check my pc a short time after I “update and shutdown” because I am used to this already lol.

And to disable them you should go deep to power settings
