Question is whether you would care if not for the drama created by the writer. The characters and their fates in the game are so nicely written that it’s hard to abstract from them being fictional.

This should be in the “face in the crowd” ending. Just V using a VR headset to live in a alternated world he created before being faced to go to work and become one of the faces in the crowd.
It could be a very harsh realistic look on life. The VR headset was a escape but in reality our friends are gone, we have no powers, we have to work to survive (not live mind you), etc. just a utterly bleak artistic look before you get your ass kicked and keep on moving.
