    >In its earnings briefing, Ubisoft said it’s laid off about 3,000 people since September 2022 as part of its ongoing cost-reduction program. Looking ahead, Ubisoft said it plans to cut even more, with €100 million more in cost-reduction efforts over the next two years

    Fuck Ubisoft

  2. Delaying the games isn’t going to fix them when it feels like the way you make them is on a conveyor belt.

“Ubisoft did not disclose any sales numbers for Assassin’s Creed Shadows but said the company overall achieved solid activity and engagement metrics for console and PC”

So pretty much they fucked around and found out.

  4. Well most of the dev team from Expedition 33 are ex Ubisoft. So I hope the talented devs laid off by soulless corporate overlords form more great AA studios without those fat hats weighing them down.

If you’re delaying projects while cutting costs, you’ve trimmed passed the fat and straight into an artery.

Really hope far cry 7 isn’t that rumored extraction shooter bullshit that got leaked

  7. Oh wow that’s a decent gap between Far Cry releases.

I bought FC6 back at launch and just couldn’t get into it, hit that Ubisoft open world burnout so I threw it on the backlog. This year I finally gave it a go, took me 3 weeks to clear it. Accessibility options are amazing, story is all over the place tone wise and many parts of it is just so cringey, gameplay was fun in particular that Ubisoft stealth with your amigo cat, NPCs getting into fights with each other that keep escalating is hilarious, lots of map bloat. 7/10.

Maybe they are making traveling 34 🥰

Ubisoft and these triple AAA companies need to start making more offshoot developing groups that can make creative games with limited oversight. Make games like Expedition 33 with smaller expenses and just as high revenue. These monster companies have become too slow, inefficient, and stuck in their ways. Take a Netflix approach of enabling creators flexibility and then you’ll get a few hits with more unique products coming out that give people a justification for their subscription.

AC Hexe is legit the most interesting project they have made in a decade, this sucks.

  11. So what’s upcoming for them later this year and the next? I assume maybe we get that Assassins Creed 4 remake then, and possibly Sands of Time.

  12. 1leggeddog

man i have to catch up. I need to play Far Cry 4 and 5… and 6

  13. Bl00dEagles

You still haven’t fixed far cry 6. Don’t bother with 7.

  14. GrooveStRep

What’s stopping this compy from dying man, yo chinese execs just take what you can and run with it.

I know Reddit loves to shit on Ubisoft and I’m not even a fan but it seems people are at least buying the games still.

Like the newest assassin’s creed game seemed to have gotten quite a bit of limelight.

Did the Devs play exp 33 and realize the grass is greener elsewhere?

  17. huncherbug

Ubisoft actually taking some good decisions since the delay of ac shadows minus the layoffs god maybe we just shouldn’t buy their games so that they make good games😭

  18. bdigital1796

please release a port of TwinWorld on steam, merci Ubi & Tencent.

  19. Everest_95

Doesn’t actually say what games in the article so take the title with a pinch of salt

  20. UnsettllingDwarf

Delaying shadows went sooooooooo well obviously. Just make a new ip. Seriously all of us know farcry 23 will be the same as the last 22. Actually try guys. Just try something.

Actually if anything the division is the only thing worth saving.

  21. HaztecCore

Moving to 2027 and 2028 looks like they might wanna bank on releasing their games when the new next gen comes out.

Given that the current gen came out in 2020 and new console generations came around every 8-ish or so years, this would line up nicely and people will buy anything that’s on new gen.

Far cry 7 and new Assassins Creed on a PS6, Maybe on a Switch 2? Sells like sliced bread in that periode.

Ubisoft just needs to go the way of the dodo bird. They’ve lost what it means to be. Video game company and let it be destroyed by bean counters that don’t give a fuck about games

  23. Sir_Henry_Deadman

I think the fact its number 7 is part of the issue

Nothing new and exciting just incremental adjustments to existing games

  24. squareswordfish

Personally I find it weird how negative everyone is in this thread assuming they’re in trouble. My first assumption was that they saw how well the release of Shadows went, which was delayed multiple times, and decided to apply the same care to their other games.

  25. Practical-Aside890

Makes sense didn’t they just make a subsidiary and most the “good” IPs are going to them. So I imagine there is lots of moving around teams and projects? Otherwise how people say “Ubisoft is greedy” and blah blah, then they would have been releasing games asap instead of delaying.

All you get is your hands dirty by polishing a turd.

  27. leviathab13186

I wonder if GTA6 coming out next year has something to do with it?

  28. Deliriousious

    Far Cry… 7…

God, I remember when 3 was some new thing that reinvented the series. Now it’s the same old thing every time.
