This is a scam by CDPR [edit: the third party company they’re allowing to sell it]
I am calling this out for what it is: a scam
Someone at the company, possibly investors or people at management, decided to do a money grab by slapping an AI product that does nothing that is needed for players and then selling it
This is a scam, and it speaks really poorly of the folks at CDPR that they made the decision to try and sell this AI slop to us
This really hurts my opinion of CDPR, it is so transparently scammy that it deserves a public rebuke
AI of this type is a plague and has no purpose, there is no benefit to this, and no one should have their money scammed from them by buying this – do not purchase this DLC, it is a scam

There wasn’t even a hint of update, the only thing that got updated was the game’s icon and wallpaper, people want update so much they acted like it’s a sign there is going to be 3.0 or something lol Also I’m sure this sound pack was announced like a year ago

I have modest speakers and earbuds that cost a lot more than this but I can use them *everywhere*. I really struggle to see the value in this product.

I can give some insight as someone who actually used this before it was added to steam:
– It’s not a scam in the sense that it doesn’t do anything, I used it on a couple of playthroughs and it made a noticeable difference to the “spatial audio” effects or whatever it’s called. It’s not for everyone but I personally found it really added to the immersion of the sound.
– This is things like gunshot sounds, crowd effects and dialogue feeling more directioned and crisper? not sure how else to describe it. It was actually to the point where some of my friends found it really overstimulating.
Sure the AI marketing stuff is cringe but it’s not like it’s generating anything creative from it, I hate AI slop as much as the next person but the idea that this is just an “AI Scam” that CDPR is pushing is just not true. Sure it’s 20 bucks for something that you can get with a good enough pair of headphones but I personally really enjoyed using it.
Again, it’s not for everyone and I understand people were expecting some kind of real game update, but reading all of these comments is turning my brain to soup.
