It's common knowledge that V is a legend in their own right — we hit Arasaka Tower hard, wiped out scores of top-tier Arasaka operatives, and finished it all by bringing down the infamous Adam Smasher.

So the real question is: does V now stand shoulder to shoulder with Morgan Blackhand, or is that legendary status still out of reach?

more or less yes. Mike Pondsmith recently commented that Blackhand is aware of V’s existence and his feats

V is better. However, V is meant to be controlled by a player who has virtually all options on the table with no real downsides. While 2077 is hands down my favorite game of all time, if the game didn’t exist, neither would V, and no other fictional character would come close to having this type of power in the universe.

Both are legends, but by canon events, our V only has a few months to live, in this timeframe we do unthinkable stuffs. On the other hand, we have Blackhand, who i think is more than 100 years old now (correct me if I’m wrong), his current status is in the mythical realm.

If our V had 10 years, then i think he’ll be somewhere closer to Blackhand’s level.

Mind you that our V is like a Demi-God level existence in terms of stats.

Didn’t Blackhand only manage to tie in a fight with Smasher? V destroyed him so I’d say he is better.

V is a game protagonist so way stronger. It’s almost not fair to compare him to the lore.

V lives on a different playing field. The weapons and technology are far more powerful in 2077 than in Blackhand’s time. He couldn’t beat Smasher now, let alone V.

Blackhand has more experience but V by end game is too OP he can do anything blackhand can do and more

  8. V’s career burn bright, but is pretty short. Blackhand has many feats, but his main thing is that he has been at the top for a long time.

I’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2020 since the 90’s. The video game, 2077, gives so much power to the player. The TTRPG can get pretty nuts, but it’s a controlled and balanced kind of nuts. V is just banana’s OP in the universe. In the way that Adam Smasher was written to sort of defy the rules of cyberpsychosis, V does too. Which means the sky is the limit with all this cyberwear. Be it Quick-hacking the planet, or doing your best impression of the Flash– V is disgustingly OP.

I always likened Blackhand to Solid Snake. A legend in those military circles, but it’s largely because he plays it safe, and survives. And in the words of Snake MGS1, “the reality is no match for the legend.”

In my head V performed some fucking obscenely impossible stuff and is clearly a legend. Some of that is just pure skill and bravery but there is also the fact that V truly, in the depths of her/his mind, had accepted that they were a dead person walking. Better to burn out than fade away. And burn she did.

But V **is** dead and Morgan is alive. And being alive is better.

Comparing established characters to video game protagonists rarely works. If Morgan Blackhand was a boss in the game someone would find a way to beat him to death with a dildo on the highest difficulty while using no cyberware.

No because I play like a fuckin idiot
