My setup is below a small approximately 2 1/2 x 3 1/2‘ window. This is the only place the desk can go. Is anybody have any suggestions to make this a little less unsightly? I’m thinking of getting some insulation or a metal panel to blackout the window but I’m not sure how to make it less unsightly (aside from cleaning up my desk).

Maybe some canvas artwork? Could put a dark liner of some sort on the back of it if needed. Hang it with command strips on the sides if there’s not a good place for nails.

It might seem unsightly but in my opinion…

Placing your setup in weird places, or places with not normal designs can allow for some INSANE setups. Honestly I think the window is fine.

What you should do is put up some white sound paneling, or some wood, or even a white fabric, basically anything white, and that fits your vibe, and integrate it into your setup.

If it was my room, I’d put up those cheap white sound panels and put them on the wall until I could afford some white wooden strips and connect then to the wall. I would also surround the window with a small (defused) light strip, hide the cord behind wall paneling or fabric, and set it up so during the day I could use the window and at night use the led strip as a overhead light / fake window.

Remove the blinds and paste a 3M sticker of your preferred color on the glass. If you can paste it on the outside, it becomes a mirror. Black, white or silver would be best if you want it to be a mirror.

There’s some canvas paintings that are made to have a light behind them. Maybe you can try that. It’ll make it look like its glowing during the day

Do not cover the window! just clean up the desk (no shame we all live busy lives) and decorate around the window. Even if it’s just a little natural light adds a ton to a space. Maybe but some cabinets alongside the window, or posters. Or even some wall sconces?

It doesn’t seem that bad, get a black curtain that’ll fit over it without hanging down too low. Then you can still open the window for some fresh air when it’s nice outside. Plus the curtain rod would give you a place to maybe put a string of light or a led strip behind for extra hidden lighting.

Throw a blacked out panel over the window and hang your neon sign on it

Maybe one of those stick on Stain glass window type tiles? Like how some have done with their side panel on their pc case.

Fog the window and draw “help” with your finger? 😋

  13. Don’t block your only natural light. Just put nice art on either side of it. Or get a cat and put a few steps up the wall so the cat can hang out with you and look out the window.
