Yeah I often think that 64 GB wasn’t enough for my wife..
Having much RAM is nice for running LLMs with KoboldCpp by example

How the hell is 110GB 98% of 192GB? There’s no way other apps use the remaining 80, unless she has every app on the planet open in the background

I regularly use over 32gb of ram with a couple tabs open with a game. 64gb is the recommended with 32 being the minimum now. It’s crazy.

Sounds like more RAM is needed, just a shame on consumer platforms you can’t do that (yet). Also a shame there’s not a good HEDT platform anymore.

Was running out of memory for some ai training, so i tried to calculate what i would need… 1tb ram is too expensive for me…
Before I retired in 2023, one of my many VMware ESXi servers in the datacenter had 2TB of RAM with a single VM on it which was configured with 1.5TB RAM with SQL Server running a single database using up all of it. 😉👍 Far from best practice…
