Maybe your on a bug round? Make sure you picked up the flask.

I had to do em in a certain order: purple, blue, yellow otherwise it wouldn’t work

You can try to flip the round or do another ritual. I get this bug 10-20% of the time. I typically just move on to another ritual and come back to the one that failed to start after completion.

Use same ray gun for same ritual & you can’t start ritual if special round on the next round skip the special round after that start ritual
