I quit playing these games because they add new features and pump out DLC at a faster rate than they’re capable of balancing the features that are already there. It’s insane that CK3 is adding China and Japan when there’s already plenty of flaws with the current map.

As with any Paradox game, wait 4-5 years for them to sell all the essential features from previous games as overpriced and under-tested DLC.

What a man gotta do for a paradox fantasy grand strategy game

Probably the worst kept secret. Also it looks like there are already gameplay videos out there and the game looks fantastic. Fingers crossed the tutorializing is just as good in EUV as it was in CK3 and V3.

And yet it STILL doesn’t take place on Europa. Do they not have maps in Sweden?

ah yeah cant wait to see the flood of 50 dollar dlc that barely add anything and a huge load of smaller dlc that change minimal things

I would sacrifice the entire reddit users (including bots) for an actual real time battle engine in Paradox games, they already figure it out the “strategic” side of things, management, etc.. but the battle is not quite there. Total War needs competition

I had been out of the look of the Paradox games for a while and just about a week ago I thought, “They did CK3 a while ago now, I wonder if EUV came out already and I missed it.” I checked and sure enough still just EU4. Now only a week later here’s the announcement. But Paradox, I have a wife and kids now, I can’t do this again.

These comments just prove that there are many people that will never be happy with any game company’s business strategy. The only way they will be happy is if they get every game exactly how they want it to be and completely for free.
Paradox supports their games for a decade or more most of the time. If you want a company to support a game with new updates for a long time, they need to do one of the following:
* Release expansion packs that cost money
* Charge a subscription fee
* Add micro transactions
* Add a battle pass system of some kind and lock content behind it.
Imagine Crusader Kings where you could only unlock positive genetic traits for your character for $0.99 apiece. Or Europa Universalis where you could only play as one of the great powers if you paid extra to unlock them. Or Victoria 3 but you could speed up your build queue by buying “bearer bonds” as a premium currency and spending it on immigrant workers. 🙄
I’ve been playing Paradox games since the start of CK2. I’ve put thousands of hours into their games. Comparing the cost of the games to my time spent in them, **my true cost for Paradox games is less than 10 cents per hour. They are the most efficient games in my Steam library by far.** If we were just looking at Crusader Kings and Stellaris, the cost goes even lower.
If you compare it to the average AAA title for $60 where you get maybe 30-40 hours out of it, they cost exponentially more in the long run.
The real problem is the cost visibility. You won’t feel a subscription fee or micro transactions even as they add up, but even the least financially conscious of you can see a DLC costs $40. That’s why so many of you come to whine in every thread about every Paradox game, while you likely casually spend money on other titles that you spend far less time in.

How many hundreds of DLC will this one have?

If their other recent games are anything to go by, its gonna be a massive downgrade from its predecessor

No thank you, going by Paradox’s usual modus operandi, this thing will slowly sell you back content that already exists in EUIV but pricier.
CMDR_omnicognate
I’ll see you all in 6 years once this game has enough DLC to be almost as good at EU4

Things I want to see in a game trailer: Gameplay, a summary of game mechanics and, if relevant, story.
What game trailers show me: CGI, dramatic voiceovers.

Pass. I wont pay Paradox a penny anymore.

I’m ready to be super hyped, but never understand how to play and be fascinated by let’s players

I can’t believe they actually did it. Another $300 in DLC for Paradox!
