I swear this gen Sony has had more failed live service games and TLOU remasters than actual new games and new IPs

They’re chasing that magic dragon! I really don’t think they’ll catch it at this point, they’ve already soured their own fanbase and built a reputation for these live service shots in the dark.

Concord caused so much negative publicity, I think the ripple from that will effect the sales of each game following it.

    i hope it’s Concord 2 😋

Me: Oh cool! A new game that looks like it could be fun!
    Game is Live Service
    Me: Oh, nevermind.

Are the live service games that die out
quick able to milk players enough to earn back the investment? Or are these companies just going into the red time after time with massive gambles to be the one live service game that sticks around

Ffs sony, how many times you need to be taught this lesson…

  7. theblackfool

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with new studios making live service games. My problem is when primarily single player studios are being pushed in the direction of live service.

Anything to not remaster Bloodborne instead

  9. RekoSwag

How many times do we have to teach you, old man?!

People don’t understand the money in these live service games. They are looking for gacha lvl of money.

I saw a report that Honkai Star Rail made 100m last month. Way higher than normal but it brings in 20-30m per month on average I believe. Every company wants what Hoyo, Epic with Fortnite, etc has. I think Sony are going to keep trying until they get it right.

I play HSR and ZZZ as time wasters during down time but I’d take a new Sony single player IP over a live service every day of the week.

    Guys and girls, don’t panic!

The responsibles for these nonsense decisions and numerous layoffs will still receive a fat bonus for Christmas!

  12. Skyswimsky

I’d assume they learned some valuable lessons of why their other products failed, and are confident enough that this one will be better/right.

“This time, it will be different. Trust us!”

Helldivers 2 probably made more than 3 of their big sp games. This isn’t rocket science guys…

This is what happens when you let business folks make decisions about pieces of art they don’t like our understand.

The only reason they have jobs is to make the shareholders more confident but they only do damage.

“how many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man”

  17. oliferro

They got a taste of it with Destiny 2 and now they want more

  18. DrVagax

There is like nothing new from Sony’s Playstation Studios I am excited about, Ghost of Yotei is something I will probably pick later on at a discount once its out, besides that I don’t know what to get excited about

    Oh a new studio?

*Our first game is a team-based ac*-HONK SHOO MIMIMI

  20. “TeamLFG said in the announcement that its first game “is a team-based action game that draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games,” that takes place ‘in a lighthearted, comedic world set in brand-new, mythic, science-fantasy universe.'”

. . . The hell does that even mean? A good idea would be to focus on one or at most two genres rather than throwing darts at a board and hoping everything comes together cohesively.

  21. LilMissBarbie

My new conspiracy is that this is some form of money laundering Shit

  22. IllBeSuspended

PCLamer reporting on consoles. Also, fuck you sony. No more live service games.

  23. Still_Schedule7

Sony must be in dire straits for them to be developing so many live service games. Anyone who tells you they bought a PS5 for exclusives must be disappointed by Sony’s underwhelming output.

  24. franko2707

They are in the “milking old success” period

  25. firedrakes

    Sony bro reaction…
    We love you sony

  26. GT_Numble

Got to maintain that illusion the company is growing and on an upward trajectory

  27. AkodoRyu

Sony doesn’t have a big live-service game, and basically every large publisher needs one to keep operating – not having one is why Ubisoft is in such dire straits. Going all-in as before might have been overkill, but they will definitely keep trying to make one.

  28. lordreed

Sony still trying to get Fortnite money.

  29. the-bacon-life

Tensions have to be high at that studio already
