PC just simply shuts off, no warnings. It happens when not gaming as well. Sometimes seconds after booting. I’ve removed all fans that could be causing shorts. Tested without USBs plugged in as well. Changed PSUs. Nothing… Tested the memories as well. It’s not overheating. How can I fix it? I’m desperate

How you tried another power outlet / power strip? If it’s not overheating then something going on with your power then most likely.
zaku49
Looks like a bad psu issue. check event viewer. I’d also try it with the on-board gpu if it had one or another one.
No_Inspector_4972
specs?

Is there really no way to see this kind of shutdown log in Event Viewer? I thought unexpected shutdowns like this usually get logged under Critical or Kernel-Power events.
techtimee
Go to event viewer and see what critical events occured
knockx2neo
Smell your psu, if it smells burny, could be on its way out.
Chronos669
You need a higher wattage power supply pal
Could also be a bad surge protector if you’re using one, or way to many things connected on your circuit supplying power. I did see you mentioned trying a new power supply so unless it’s way undersized I don’t see that being the issue.
didgeridont_pls
Do you have an NVidia GPU? My computer was doing that and I DDU’d the NVidia GPU drivers, reinstalled, and the problem went away. The new set of NVidia drivers aren’t great this go around.
Mediocre_Ad_2422
Id reset cmos and reset rams and gpu since it traveled, rexmp your ram.
download whocrashed? and post report.
KryanThePacifist
Reseating/removing all but one stick or ram, reseat the CPU. Plug the CPU fan on another header (will cause warnings but should be fine if you set up properly on bios, try all of this.
Does it also hapens if you let it hang on bios screen?
No-Measurement9441
I swear I was having this issue as well and I tried everything. Replaced thermal paste on CPU, thermal pads on gpu, reseated ram, everything. My one friend suggested reinstalling windows and I shit you not, it fixed it

Check if the PSU gets unusually warm in one spot.
Also check if this coincides with long durations of high power consumptions like gaming, and not just idle or low-intensity stuff like web browsing.
If both are true your PSU likely has a defective capacitor that overheats when under stress and eventually stops doing its job.
Typical_Produce1
Hmm, I see you’ve tried threathening it with a knife already, if that didn’t work…
Exact-Art-2603
Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on again

Try to re-seat the CPU and RAM. There are various issues that can cause random shutdowns and it is usually related to the logical systems of the components.
It’s also possible that your windows may be corrupt, you might have a Bios power setting that’s out of whack, or one of the ram sticks, the CPU, or the motherboard itself might be bad.

I was having a similar issue not long ago. For me it was that my gpu was overheating but giving no warning. The edge temps which most monitoring softwares report at GPU temp was fine. Almost chilly. But the hotspot temps were randomly spiking deep into the 90s and probably into the 100s faster that HWinfo could refesh. Drove me nuts diagnosing until I just thought to sanity check the temperatures again. Repasted my card and everything’s been rock solid since. Just something else to check maybe.

Looks like psu. Download occt, test 3d adaptive.
I’ve rma’s multiple evga 1300 gold psu’s.

Did you try bios reset?
Also diagnose with one stick of ram and different slots.
And check your ram + motherboard + VRM temprature from hw monitor if they are not on msi afterburner
TeaMenV
I know you keep saying you got a new PSU, but this is a PSU issue.
KMReiserFS
I had a pc with this problem, it was the motherboard chipset overheating.
changed the motherboard and the problem was gone.
yeetingxpro_1
Completely disassemble your PC and rebuild it again. Then try step by step. First only CPU in. then one RAM Stick and so on. Do you have a friend with a similar build? You need to test your components individually to circle in the problem. It kinda sounds like a PSU problem, had t aswell with the new RTX3080 back in the days. It just killed my PSU and it got worse every day.
psychic717
Looks like it’s the PSU (a new one can still be faulty), or the plug you have the PC plugged into.
Kokumotsu36
My GF is also experiencing this.
I swear it has to be something with windows.
Where I work, A client was going through the same thing. nothing in event viewer other than kernel panic 41, which is just a meaningless error say ” Oops, windows shutdown wrong”
Ran prime95 with Furmark for like 45 minutes without any issue, but playing a game and it can do this 3x within 5 minutes and happens with multiple games.
Linkedzz
This is a power delivery issue, either PSU, faulty power plug or motherboard, this is not a software issue
RaftermanTC
If it’s your CPU, and it’s a 13th gen I9 or I7, update your bios.
There were power management and compatibility issues with the way they tuned voltage configs.
Took them a couple years to figure out that this was randomly shutting down PCs.
That MAY be your issue.
rafaeltrenton
just turn it back on bro. You’re welcome.
Stochastic_berserker
Just reduce GPU voltage to 90-95%. Almost always the case that it is the GPU voltage.
IntelligentIdiocracy
Did you replace all the cables when you got the new PSU? Definitely seems like a PSU thing though. Could be faulty.
MapexMup
What’s your ram situation? If you’re running in XMP turn it off and set it to a stable clock. Somethimg similar happened to me
just_change_it
Does it shut down in BIOS if you leave it in there for a while?
if no
Does it shut down if you use a portable drive to run a linux distro for a little bit?
runed_golem
Do you have a different PSU you can try?
Kiwi_Doodle
Overvolted perhaps? If it’s not a heat or weird bug issue, it’s probably power draw. Which sucks cause that probally means your PSU is not enough for your system…
bubska
why is there a knife there? is the pc held hostage?
meteorprime
Are you sure that surface is nonconductive?
Put a cardboard box under the motherboard
