And that’s why CoD will now be $80 lol

Edit: y’all, I thought the lol would be enough go know it’s a joke. Game prices would go up regardless and it’s surprising it took this long. But with game pass the $80 price tag could potentially be mitigated.

It’s clear the worries were wrong when you have Gears of War and most likely Halo coming to PlayStation this year…

Ngl, whole FTC trial was hilarious, but we got plenty of interesting info from that.

But it’s not like FTC had any chance of winning especially after Xbox essentially became multiplatform publisher in last two years.

Crazy such a huge merger went through.

The anti trust teeth of the government have been ripped out by billionaires and their political lap dogs for decades.

Guess FTC didn’t level up their persuasion skill tree before

This was xbox deal to go 3rd party

Love the final twist of Microsoft dropping their lawyers (one of the law firms that bent the knee to Trump) and replacing them with ones that didn’t.

I can’t believe we live in a time where a government / consumer protection entity has been neutered so handily…

Insane that this is allowed to go through.

It was a shitshow for Sony.

Sony were so scare that they would lose Call of Duty and the FTC were pretty much fighting on their behalf.

**Even the judge there had to remind the FTC that their job was not to fight for Sony lmao.**

99% of the Call of Duty playerbase play on the various console systems.

In no world was Call of Duty ever being taken off the PS consoles. Call of Duty is the best selling video game franchise for a record 16th consecutive year in the US. It is the biggest video game franchise in history in term of revenue earn.

I guess Sony assume that Microsoft were wealthy enough to just take Call of Duty from them and not worry too much about any revenue lost. The problem with that theory was that Microsoft still had to play nice in there to get the deal through and they had to look good for any potential future buyouts and fights in court.

We did got lots of juicy leaks from both Sony and Microsoft from those court battles lol.

$200+ million that Sony spend to make Horizon and The Last of Us and 4-5 years to make one of those game. The Oblivion Remaster leak was first heard about from there. Just how many PS users only turn on their console to play Call of Duty.

Millions of people have a console as just a Call of Duty machine / Sports game machine / Fortnite machine etc etc.

And, more to your point, I DO pay more once I feel the quality is there. I paid 40 bucks for Darktide (not everyone’s cup of tea, I get that). I have dumped HUNDREDS of hours into that game off that initial 40 bucks. I don’t normally buy skins in games, but for this game had no trouble throwing them an extra 20 for some skins from the sheer amount of time I have gotten from my 40 dollar investment.

The nice thing about being a middle aged gamer with a Steam account is the luxury to decide to wait on a purchase until I see others reactions to it and decide to wait on the price to come down or never pick it up at all.

If this is about the monopoly thing that they were scared of Microsoft monopolizing cod. I never understood that. I would maybe for certain games/ips but not something where a majority of the income comes from multiplat sales and mtx. I think besides Fortnite, cod is one of the other big games that brings in millions.if not billions from mtx. To cut those for exclusivity makes no sense imo

Does FTC still think MS is going to dominate the console market…

Idk how this super anti consumer deal went through. Consumers gets screwed one way or another

  15. VerneUnderWater

A show appeal lmao. The FTC is basically just a luxury panel right now. They do whatever their script says.

  16. CriesAboutSkinsInCOD

I also remember there were waaaay too many clowns that were throwing the word “monopoly” everywhere and not knowing wtf they were talking about and how that didn’t made any sense.

It was the buzzword. Every other comment was some clown screaming “Monopoly!” lol.

    More like Sony loses appeal.

Even if you hate Xbox or consolidation the FTC arguments were garbage and they should have lost, especially the cloud(basically non existent market) and monopoly (Xbox was in third place) arguments, and Xbox ended going 3rd party giving even more players access to their games.

I forgot this had still been going on…could this be a possible reason for holding off on a big dump of Activison games going on GP, or we just continue with the occasional drop
