I was recently thinking about BF Vietnam. Man I’d love a remake of that game with modern graphics and a real jungle to play. Gameplaywise it would probably be hell, but still! I want it 😀 (a noteable game that manages dense vegetation well is Hunt Showdown)

1942 was ahead of its time for online pc gaming. Such a fucking blast to play online with like 80 ppl

Freelancer! Was searching for so long for a game that gave me a similar feeling. Closest thing I have found is X4.

Anyone play Point of Existence mod for BFV?

Oh my, Freelancer. What an absolute goated game that was. I spent so much time play that one, it had such a loyal modding community too with plenty of private multiplayer servers.

I played the hell out of all three

Respect you still have the physical copies. I wish I had more physicals of some of my older stuff, but I definitely still have some stuff laying around. Maybe even some DOS lol
But either way, 1942 was awesome and was a big building block of my still love for ww2 and open map approach to games.
Gonna sound weird, but I definitely think 42 is what lead me into the dark dark whole that was world of tanks and now war thunder lol.

I remember playing those two Battlefield games at an internet cafe! Such a different world back then.

“Freelancer Alpha One dash One, you are clear for take-off, good luck out there! ”
Still remember it from the days.

I’ll give Chris Roberts his due, when Freelancer used losing a million credits of cargo to motivate the main character, I found it compelling, but distant as a motive.
Now thanks to Roberts I’ve had the chance to experience losing that much cargo at once in Star Citizen… and I get it now Trent. I get it.

I still can hear the main theme of BF1 on my head 🤤

Freelancer? Dang that brings back memories. Too bad we never got a 2. Enjoyed the universe based on GB, USA, China and parts of Germany. A unique twist. Closest things I’ve ever played were dark Star one and ever space 2.

Does anyone remember the Discovery Mod for Freelancer? It let you play online with other players. Man those were some good times.

I remember when I was also playing Medal of Honor, what good times…
