Play the games, and you’ll see. There is nothing comparable to playing this franchise for the first time.

I think you should try to play it

Dude. Go pop your GTA cherry lol

Same, the game’s concept never appealed to me. We’re definitely in the minority though.

If you weren’t here for the start then you definitely wouldn’t understand the hype if you started playing today. But still try playing it.

Basically it’s just a fun game, if you ever wanted to be the bad guy in a typical bank heist movie or something that’s GTA in a nutshell.
The game goes beyond that though you can wreak havoc on the streets and break the law a ton. The core concept typically is you are a criminal and your goal is to rise up to rule in that world.
You can also buy things in the game like real life so when you rob someone or something for $1 million you get to spend that money.
Fritzkreig
It has a lot of sandbox “real world” stuff going on for it.
Huge-Nerve7518
Personally I like how there’s basically endless ways to play. And GTA5 has such a huge nap it can be fun to just run around jumping cars and stuff like that.
Rom_ulus0
Open world capitalist satire sandbox with a crime drama happening in the background.
Pretty sure in the last game one story mission you unknowingly plant a cellphone bomb in the parody F book offices that ends up blowing Zark Muckerburg/Jteve Sobs head off on live television.

For me personally vice city was one of the first games, that had an huge impact culturally. Youd just drive around the city and would not start missions just because there was a good song coming from the radio. There was some magic to it. Others were great, just did not hit that spot so well.
Its hard to beat that emotion, but there is some hope.

Why does any series get popular, in general gta is one of the few if any open world crime sandbox games, we used have “gta clones” but those have gone the way of the dodo, people love the satirical nature and the story and characters of the gta series, I mean look I personally don’t care much for the soulslike games, they are all the same to me just like any other game series, why do some have a hard time understanding why a large group of people really enjoy a series… also it’s been a century and we’re finally getting another gta game and rockstar makes fantastic games, rdr2 was fantastic so people are really hyped to see what they are coming up with for gta 6
fafarex
Well, even if I’m not hype by GTA 6 like a lots seem to be …. that something that is better experience and gta 5 is dirt cheap ( and even has been free from time to time on epic for exemple).
It’s a special bland of cynical parody of US society with an action movie presentation, pop culture references, a very good openworlds with variety of activitys and gameplay.

They make quality games.

It’s literally the biggest franchise in gaming. The budget on GTA6 is $1 billion. That make sit the most expensive piece of media ever produced. Just play GTA5 if you’re curious. Granted it is a PS3/Xbox360 game, but it’s been released on every major platform and the online side of it still has a healthy playerbase and receives updates.
I think one of the things that makes it special are that it delivers a fantastic single-player experience with a good story, compelling characters, and varied missions plus the ability to ignore all of that and just treat the world as a very interesting sandbox to do whatever the fuck you want in. However, it also offers an equaling engaging multiplayer experience where that sandbox is full of other people playing, or even doing very complicated Role Play.

A lot of kids online grew up with GTA5. It’s nostalgic for them. You can accurately call GTA5 a retro-game because it came out on the 360 and PS3. It’s like how GTA4 was for my generation as far as hype went.
Which BTW is the best GTA game.

I love the GTA games, very excited for this one coming up, the trailer didn’t really hype me up at all though, it looks like… gta
Nothing out of the ordinary, the hype on it does make me feel like you though
Bulkyman101
I have played them, I just dont like it as much as most people do
Clear-Mind2024
Modding gtav is so much fun.
shinyRedButton
Fell in love with it when it was a top down view PC game and then they just kept getting better and pushing what was possible. By the time GTA V hit it was like an amazing FPS, driving game and RPG all in one. Things like the radio stations you can listen to while driving is one of the details that make GTA V a masterpiece.
weedlefetus
Just play it, then you’ll get it

Since 4 I’ve get bored quickly. IDK what it is, but one part about 5 I find beyond frustrating is you can’t even stand near NPC’s without them wanting to fight, including cops.

Genuinely can’t even comprehend a gamer not having played a gta game, I guess that’s what happens when you wait 10+ years before releasing the next game.
GhostRevival
Someone could have been in first grade when GTA V came out and would be graduating by the time GTA VI comes out.

I’m not a fan but will say it’s incredibly impressive. I find it’s a jack of all trades master of none. It combines a million different game genres into one game that’s all connected. It’s like Roblox but every single game is built with way more thought and care in a cohesive experience.
VeryBadCopa
As a friend told me years ago: you just have to go from point A to point B and kill someone and suddenly you finished the game lol, nothing special about that, and good graphics
bazvink
Nothing. Just play RDR2
Monster51915
Kill people, drive, get obliterated by hackers or little kids in nearly indestructible vehicles or stupid bikes with somehow what feels like infinite homing missiles. Inflation where one moment an SUV cost 50k and the next moment a slightly newer a slightly more upgradable one costs 2.5 mil. Or like the Sultan RS where it costs like 30k I think for a mid 2010 year and then like 1.7 mil for one from the 90’s
