    They literally are

    Malware is malicious software

Adware, a program that bombards you with ads and/or popups, counts as malware

What else bombards you with popups?

The pc I’m typing this on came with like 3 months of free mcafee and good lord I had to disable it. Could barely do anything without their input

    This isn’t a point that’s even up for debate…

All 3th party cleaning and Anti-Virus software are bloat- and malware.

    (Except business software of course)

I think it’s safe to say that virtually all antivirus software is malware.

I unsubscribed, and then unsubscribed from the reminders that I was not longer subscribed.

Not awful programs for people who are very PC and internet naieve unless they have a PC that can’t handle all the bs constantly going on and don’t know what to turn off…

…so, yeah I guess scrub that, as it would be PC and internet naieve who were the main consumers.

I was really thinking of those users and browser protection, but it’s been a long time since much of that was particularly useful for most people.

Some tho… yeah… and the same will bypass it anyway because they don’t know that porn site they just got Site Advised not to visit really isn’t the holy grail it said it was.

They aren’t really designed in the best interests of the naieve end user when it comes to transparency of what is necessary or not.

They will try to resubscribe those people at considerable cost in perpetuity until they learn they should have uninstalled such programs immediately.

Not technically malware, but they do a lot of stuff I would turn off if I had a free trial and just wanted to see if there was anything changed in the programs out of curiosity.

I guess you were right. My bad.

  7. Their logic? Can’t get a virus if you can’t use your computer

McAfee and its amazing performance boost that somehow makes performance worse

FINALLY I WASNT THE ONLY ONE, can someone tell me how to delete it! I can’t do it with task manager!!

    You know what else? Malwarebytes.

That shit pops up notis like nobody’s business, and hogs up to 10% of my cpu. I had nine days left of a free trial and I still wiped that shit from my pc.

It’s fine for doing a scan if you think you have something malicious, but damn it sucks. I’m shocked by how much it gets recommended.
