Arthas from Wc3 and world of warcraft is iconic af and really well written until Wrath of the Lich king.
Just… Ignore anything involving lich kings and Sylvanas thereafter.

Mr. House – all of his dialogue is so impeccably written and performed.

Sephiroth will always be my favourite antagonist.
At face value in OG FF7 he is just a mindless war criminal that relentlessly kills for power.
But delve into the story and you find about his past, how he was “born”, manipulated, was a hero that people idolised as he slowly descends into madness discovering his past.
They also do an insanely good job at portraying how powerful he is, in the flashback with Cloud he just one-shots everything with mastered materia, kills 40 foot snakes single handedly.. you also barely see him, you only hear about “Sephiroth” and aside from the flash back, you don’t actually see him until much, much later in the game.
Legendary character.
PommesMayo
Your Rival in the first Pokémon game.
He’s just a perfect prick who you want to beat every time you meet him. He interrupts you and forces you to a battle where you either lose or are forced to use your good healing items. And even if you win, he continues to be a prick. Also after playing for hours, besting 8 gym leaders and making it through so many insanity inducing caves, your rival achieves your dream before you so you have to beat him one final time to pry your dream out of his scummy little hands!
And the best thing? YOU can name him. Know that idiot from school or work you hate? Give him that name the journey will be a cathartic journey of healing

I know it’s an unpopular opinion because the character was hated, but Micah Bell is the ideal antagonist, just a pos with no redeeming qualities whatsoever that makes you want to fail a mission just to kill him whenever he’s on screen.

– Handsome Jack -> Borderlands 2
– Joker -> Arkham Asylum/City
– Vaas and Pagan Min -> FC3/4
– Vergil -> DMC3
– Illusive Man -> Mass Effect 2/3
There are more but those are the ones who come immediately to my mind. Also I’ve been playing Clair Obscur and I don’t wanna spoil anything but one of the antagonists is so damn good.

So, apparently the four presidents on Mount Rushmore were chosen by sculptor Gutzon Borglum to represent significant periods and themes in American history.
Borglum intended for the monument to commemorate the first 150 years of the nation’s history, focusing on its founding, expansion, preservation, and development.
So, which four Antagonists represent gaming through each age (and I suppose first, what is each age of gaming)?
LazloDaLlama
In terms of OPs post I surprisingly don’t even know who top left and bottom right even are. But personally think Bioshock is a wrong placement. Like the twist is iconic I guess, but IDK.
I’d keep the Boss, add Handsome Jack, Glados like someone else said and Sephiroth
SpiralOmega
Emet-Selch from FFXIV. Rarely do you see a villain be writen so well that you sympathize and understand them, and yet still recognize that they are in fact villains that need to be defeated.

I wouldn’t call The Boss an antagonist.
For MGD it needs to be Ocelot or Zero.

Flowey the Flower from Undertale. It has so many layers to it that it ends up being meta. It’s really an accomplishment to be able to do that without feeling cheesy or edgy and managing to, on top of that, make the player feel sympathy.

Mine definitely has Kreia from KOTOR 2 on there. Just excellent writing. Such an interesting character, and they nailed the execution of her scheme. For a game from that time, with where Star Wars was at that time as an IP, how they pulled off that story was very impressive.
