“Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 helped achieve world peace.”
raisedbytides
My only RPG / turn based experience is with Mario RPG /Paper Mario and enjoyed both very much, if you’re like me but are at all curious about this game I highly recommend it! It plays like Mario RPG and I mean that as a huge compliment. CO:E33 has been as absolute blast for a newcomer such as myself, I can only image what fans of this genere can do with all the combo systems..

I didn’t expect Omori of all games to be the second highest rated game in the store. Both top 2 games are now turn-based JRPGs that aren’t made in Japan.

Said it to a friend just two days ago. It’s the first game in many years to actually make me feel something while playing it. The voice acting is beautiful.

Game is phenomenal
Dicklepies
Well deserved.
bijelo123
Although Im not fan of turned based combat, but the world, characters, music and story are really great, well deserved
DustyBot23
That list is missing Ender Magnolia, which has a 4.87 rating with 4.5k reviews.

I’m not a fan of turn-based combat but might have to put that aside and give this a try due to all of the good feedback I have been reading.
markodemi
Very good game. Any way to fix the global illumination after setting it to low. This is a big problem in the manor. I’m playing on a legion go.
Voidfang_Investments
Is this game actually or just hyped? Is combat like legend of dragoon?
ichbinverwirrt420
What is this game even about? I haven’t seen anything yet.
Giff95
I’m as casual a gamer as they come. I play Call of Duty and Madden, and that’s when I have time to kill. I’m going to give Clair Obscur a go!

Ok fuck, I wish I bought this instead of oblivion now
dangngo6
Everything about this game is great, story, art style, gameplay, characters
Poetryisalive
I feel like a lot of people haven’t gotten to Act 3. The difficulty and even the way the game has to be played, changes drastically
The_Alchemy_Index
I cannot believe how varied every single encounter is! The music, the Paper Mario/Legend of Dragoon hybrid QTE combat, the art and most noticeable, the cast and their presentation makes this feel like France’s answer to Chrono Trigger.
UnholyTrashPanda
I really want to get into turn-based RPGs, but I’ve bounced off Persona 5 a few times. And I know it’s not exactly turn based, but I didn’t finish FF7 Rebirth due to objective burnout.
Would this game potentially change my mind?

Switch 2 port pls <3!

Now that GTA VI is delayed
Probably going to win Game of the Year
GrimMilkMan
There’s gonna be a ton of publishers that are gonna try and buy that studio after that game I bet.
Don’t be surprised if this game also sweeps at the game awards
KCBSR
Games is great,
I think the content creators picking it up, combined with the extremely powerful intro, so people don’t have to watch 9 hours to get the hook really sold it well.
TheyStillLive69
Execs and publishers everywhere: this must mean players want more live service games with built in microtransaction stores.

I’m too old to be a contrarian hipster, so I’ll admit it’s a pretty great game. It’s incredibly charming.
90s_TV_Commercials
I’m only a few hours in but the game had me hooked from the second it started. I can’t remember the last time a game did that. Voice acting is phenomenal, so is the music, it’s a beautiful game, combat is super fun and the story is super interesting. I feel like I’m playing a movie. Definitely my current GOTY.
Deltadusted2deth
I suck at it, but man is it pretty!
hustladafox
Everything about it is phenomenal. And it’s come out of the blue for most people. At best I tracked it at the Xbox showcase but that was it. Out comes a unique beautiful game that makes combat that lots of us enjoyed when we were young really fun again. Incredible stuff and it deserves all the love it’s getting.
muempire93
Is this game good? Not really seen much about it.
TennisSilent881
THIS is the turn based type of game I was craving and didn’t even know it. $50 is an absolute steal for this game it’s an automatic top ten for me all time games. Unbelievable! Can’t wait to see what this company does next.
reskon
I guess people were starving a singleplayer game atm? 🤔
JENOVAcide
Absolutely deserved.
klutch65
It’s beautiful, it’s haunting, it’s sad, it’s happy, it’s brutal, and it really should be 2025 Game Of The Year.
mrcosan
I hope this will become a new wave of games that have their own style and are not dressed up as a game made by Americans.
jasonjr9
It really is refreshing to see this game come in and stir everything up. Remind people that games don’t have to be just sloppy content-farming, but can be actual artistic experiences, too.
Games like Clair Obscur are *why* I’m a gamer. Gaming is more than just a hobby to me, games have the power to be an exploration of the human experience just like any other medium of art.
There’s room for other games that are “just dumb fun”. But games like Clair Obscur show us glimpses of what the medium can truly achieve.

The only turn based game I’ve really sunk time into are the South Park games (obviously this is much deeper). I’m loving the dodge and parry parts of the game, along with the story, but the turn based combat parts of the game I just keep doing the same line every time. Is that a me problem? It’s been a while since I played the South Park games but i remember the turn based combat being more complex than 33 (again obviously South Park didn’t have the dodge party mechanic)
childofthemoon11
I’m in Act 2 currently. I hope it wins GOTY
Res_Novae17
I downloaded it last night and had this breathtaking moment on the pause menu. The *pause menu.* Gustave stands there looking out at the player, blinking and fidgeting, and it’s hard to describe, but… I have never in my entire life gotten a more substantial sense that I was looking at an actual human from a video game. Not just the character model, but the way it was animated. I immediately started to care about this man’s journey just through the art alone, and I haven’t even fought a single enemy yet outside of the tutorial against your friend.
Electric-Mountain
Once I beat my Oblivion playthrough I might pick it up.

Are you sure you guys don’t want far cry 14? Or how about assassins creed 22? Lmao

Beat the game yesterday. I had a great time. This is what modern FF games should play like and not that real time combat stuff.
Slow_Fish2601
What’s the first impression thus far? I’m curious to know.
GroundbreakingBag164
9/10 game, absolutely great, and you should definitely play it…
…but this contact glazing is slowly getting annoying.
Goomancy
Anyone seeing the Darkest Dungeon and Dark Souls influences or am I reaching?
Lonely-Tumbleweed-56
The only downside in an otherwise perfect game is the music
It’s good but way too invasive, repetitive and out of context to the point I couldn’t stand it anymore

I resisted 2h before turning it off completely
