Yeah, my setup is a mess. I could definitely update to windows 11 if I wanted to, but I won't. I've been tinkering with Linux for a while now, so it's time to make the plunge.

Ah yes, the daily “Windows bad” karma grab

Are the members of this sub paid by Microsoft? or worse, fanboys who are licking corporations’ ass for free? What’s up with the hatred to linux users?

  4. NDCyber

Welcome to Linux I hope you enjoy using it

And I have to say I find the comments kinda sad here. Just because Linux wasn’t for some people doesn’t mean it isn’t for everyone or op. Just let op enjoy Linux, who cares if they switch back. There are enough people that stay

why do the members of this sub like licking asses of corporations like Microsoft? Or are they too dumb to install anything that doesn’t come pre installed with a pre built?

I see stereotypes of Linux being too difficult to use in this sub all the time. Everyone is hostile towards Linux users lmao.

I tried to install Linux on my laptop and though the installing was nice…I couldn’t do anything, linux refused to use the 4Gb graphics card only to use integrated so everything was painfully slow, all tutorials I followed letter by letter came out with lot of errors I couldn’t find any fix for.
So after 10h trying I admitted defeat then downloaded windows 10 ISO and tried to copy it into a 16Gb empty pendrive (like 8Gb to spare). Despite having an SSD it took awful long time just to come out with another error saying drive is full! WTF? Not even that I could do right with Linux. So best of luck.

I swear all of these commenters play the one or two games that are completely incompatible with Linux and assume that everyone else will switch back to windows. Me personally, my games run better on Linux than they do on windows and I’ll never switch back for that reason alone. Also, everything just *works*. No “maybe later” or hijacking my computer against my consent to install more bloatware, it does what I tell it to and it’s amazing.

I love how much everyone in here is projecting how they can’t use Linux

Linux is hard, props to OP for the switch. It has its place. Windows is a lot easier, and I prefer it, but I don’t care what others run. I’ll help windows users with their troubles and I’m sure there are plenty of Linux users who are willing to help others too.

It’s like buying a car new vs getting a salvage title and rebuilding it into a fun beast. One is easier, while the other is more fun and faster but needs more work. Either way, I won’t run you off the road if you don’t drive the same car as me.

Once again, I have NO PROBLEM with the OS or those who use it normally.

But *oh my god do the Linux purists get on my nerves.*

Fedora is a great choice. Fuck Microsoft (im still Stück on 10 enterprises but soon™)

I went Linux for a bit. I mostly liked it.

Only reason I am back on windows is because of stupid mental level anti cheat and sim hardware is not supported and gets difficult to update

Windows isn’t bad but what Microsoft is doing to it is and we can’t really stop them cause it’s their IP. The best thing consumers can do is use their buying power and not buy windows and choose Linux or another operating system on a different platform. There are so many people just jumping on the Apple wagon right now cause macOS doesn’t have bloatware.

Very cool! Back in 2012 or so I ran Ubuntu for a week, but it wasn’t there yet. A couple of years ago I spent a year on Pop!OS. I switched to Garuda about a year ago, and nuked my windows pairing 2 weeks in. Garuda is a great daily driver.

  14. Lol I swear bro. Thought for a moment you were my brother based on the case and the Arctic CPU cooler xD.
Build him the same PC with those two parts xD

Been using bazzite for 6 months now for my gaming rig and i am super happy about my decision. Not a single game not working and so many other benefits by the customizability of linux. never going back thanks to Proton and bazzite

  16. Xallvion

Ordered a new rig last week. Without an OS. Rtx 9070 xt with a ryzen 9800x3d. This pc will never see windows

I would absolutely love to IF i didn’t HAVE to use maya and other windows software that just wouldn’t work on linux (to my knowledge would love to be proven wrong)

I tried Linux once. I used Popos since that was apparently the best distro for Nvidia cards. My mouse $ keyboard were forever stuck in a pulsing rainbow mode because they didn’t have software to control the RGB on Linux. I had to download a calendar app because it didn’t come with one. I had to troubleshoot my audio since it didn’t work at first. I had to download Microsoft fonts because I guess some people don’t want them for some reason, and so the OS didn’t have them. My WebCam didn’t work, even though it should. I had a horrible time trying to match my sensitivity to what it was on windows (to match my sensitivity settings in games). Oh, and I had to download steam through the command prompt since the version in the popos store thing was out of date and just broken.

I get why the lack of overhead appeals to people, but at the same time, I don’t want to have to search for a calendar app or google answers on how to get a USB speaker to work on Linux. At least for me, it seems much easier to disable the bad aspects of windows 11 than to fully commit to Linux.

Just wait till Windows 10 is EOL you guys will be switching to Linux then

  20. Hellcatty_9

The post tomorrow: “Out with Linux, in with Windows 11”

  21. OutlawHavok

I’ve got an ally rog x and put bazzite on it for the SteamOS like experience. I’d consider dual booting with bazzite and messing about with it and maybe using for “offline,” games.

Even though I’m getting older, still need multiplayer games and windows still winning there. Xbox PC game pass makes windows worthwhile itself imo.

Reading the comments, didn’t realize this sub is a sucker for MS.
