Don’t matter they’ll buy the next 80 dollar Call of duty the next 80 dollar Madden
Marcysdad
I bought Claire Obscure and Sonic Generations Remastered physically for less and had enough money to buy nachos, dip and a coke

> The three highest-reviewed video games of 2025 so far, according to the review aggregation website Metacritic, are Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Blue Prince and Split Fiction. Those games cost, respectively, $50, $30 and $50.
>Is it a coincidence that the best-reviewed games of 2025 are all cheaper than normal boxed products? Maybe. But it’s also evidence that smaller scale and focus can equate to quality.

An $80 game has to be a 10/10 for me to buy it full price.

Patientgamers is the way to go

And the Deluxe Edition will still have you some left over money lol
LittleMissFirebright
The games that are going to be hit by this price increase the most are experimental or new nintendo titles. Most gamers will still buy a new Zelda or Pokemon, but an $80 risk on something new is just too much

Can’t and won’t speak for everyone, But I’ll be doing my part. Not engaging with anything part of this price hike. Looking forward to seeing competition come in at better price points.
cyborgg_gaming
I see too many games with $80 price tags that are released unfinished, buggy and generally dull game play. I generally refuse to pay full price for games anymore as I find most don’t live up to the hype
AdonisJames89
The only games i bought that were that much were stellar blade and ff7 rebirth. BOTH are 10/10 but that’s the only reason i can justify that price
Johnny_Rell
Honestly, I don’t even feel guilty about pirating them anymore. 80$ is quite out of touch
KansinattiKid
I believe that Rockstar can charge whatever they want for GTA 6. At 200 dollars it would still sell…
saleemkarim
It’s just a way for them to get as much money as possible out of different customers who are willing to pay different prices. They know tons of people will buy it at that price, and those who can’t afford it and are interested still may buy it at a discount later.

I don’t mind spending $80 on a game as long as I think it’s worth it but the only game I’ve paid $70 for was Jedi: Survivor and that shit was, and still is, a mess.
I’ve put 1000 hours into $40 worth of games in the last year and a half. 550 hours in Helldivers 2 and 450 hours in The Finals which is free. $20-$40 games are a much smaller investment and are usually just better. Plus supporting indie devs over corporations is always cool.

What a dumb take. Gamer’s have had plenty of options for a decade… and still pay $60… then $70 on video games. The price won’t keep people away. If price was such a big factor (in these small increments) then people would never buy launch consoles. They are always over priced compared to the library. People would never buy new phones… and etc. People will always over pay because of FOMO and being part of the zeitgeist.
Also, consumers are dumb. They accept new prices. They will complain, but they will buy. And then they will forget. The price increase is also CRAZY behind inflation. Console games have been $60 for decades. Only recently have they started to take a comparable price to inflation. Games should be $100… and many are. Ubisoft has sold shit tons of games for over $100 by offering 3 days early access…. TO SINGLE PLAYER GAMES.
Tell me why that works. Why does a consumer pay $30-60 more to play a game 3 days early? An extra side quest? A DLC pack? No… they do it because they have small peepee’s and small brains.

I’m have too many options to spend $12 on Bloomberg
MalHeartsNutmeg
80 dollars is not a lot for something you’re going to spend 100 hours on, and Nintendo games were that price in the 90s, higher adjusted for inflation.
Why are gamers on reddit the cheapest bunch of complainers around? 80 bucks for 10s of hours, sometimes 100s of hours is minuscule.
Candle-Jolly
And yet millions will still buy games for $80. Watch.
dearbokeh
Players have so many options that they spend their time on Reddit complaining. Like wtf.

Yea i can wait for a deep sale. I’ve been accumulating free games for years that I’ve yet to play.
Swollen_Beef
$80 in this climate, nah. I won’t be buying any more games above $50. 20 years ago, I probably would pay $80 because I’m getting a whole-ass game. Today, $80 for the single player campaign and a limp-dick multi-player, then add $30 season pass, then another $30 premium pass inside the battle pass, $20 skins, $50 random DLC that is essentially required to keep up with the power creep in MP…
Nope. These AAA studios can fail. Besides, AAA anymore is a good identifier that the game is to be avoided.

Yes, there’s literally thousands of games on sale every week on the digital stores. We do not have time to play them all.
