I’m really enjoying it so far, ngl. It’s a solid game

“Players”, not 1 million sales.
SilentSasquatch2
For a GamePass game it’s worth a try imo, nothing special but cool aesthetic/culture not often explored in games.
cardonator
I loved this game. Very little nonsense in it IMO. The music was incredible.
Guilty_Challenge6233
I really wish they would stop this whole “reached player” thing
Griffdude13
It’d be more if they weren’t holding it back from PS5 for some odd reason.
ZigyDusty
Its a solid 7.5-8/10 game, I really enjoyed the story, artstyle, audio/music and world, if the final boss fight was better and the combat was much better id give it a 8.5-9, it a must try if you own gamepass.
Edit: really downvoting me for giving a game a positive review with some valid criticism, lemme guess some PS fanboys or racist assholes.

first time hearing about this

I had a great time with it through Gamepass. I put it in the same category as Advent Rising, Oni, Enslaved, Remember Me, and Aragami: brave third person action games that were a little out there, a little under the radar, but very much appreciated experiences.
No-Pollution1149
Great, another game to add to my backlog smfh

AA studios are releasing great games lately.
It shows how a passionate team with creative freedom can do something good for the players. No micro transaction, no season pass… just a game you can enjoy at your own pace.

I am so hungry for southern gothic type setting right now after watching Sinners. Once Expedition 33 unhinges its jaws on me I’m diving right into this game next (sorry Oblivion lol)
Been rereading some of my fav southern horror books too, right now it’s Drawing Blood.
Bluemischief123
I enjoyed it till chapter 5, performance got considerably worse and the final boss fight was really bad. Went from a decent 7.5 / 10 game to like a 4.5. The story really pulled me in at the start but it kinda lost me in the end.
RocMerc
That’s my next game after Expidtion. Looks fun
ViaMoon
Beautiful game and story. The combat is the only downside.
Marcysdad
I’d wish the studio would be payed as much for its game being released on gp than they would if they’d sold 1 million copies
Edit.
So let me get it straight.
I want a studio to earn more money through sales than a much lower amount they got payed upfront for the game being on gamepass(which is cannibalizing sales)?
This community has some serios issues.

I haven’t heard about this game at all anywhere except for Reddit.
Porticulus
Good game and interesting story and characters, but the combat let it down. Worth picking up for the vibes tho.

Really hope it gets a PlayStation port
Uetur
I really enjoyed it, one of those sleeper hits you didnt know was coming and left you happy to play.
Outrageous-Ring-2979
These gamepass numbers are completely meaningless. How many of those million players booted it up for five minutes and then never played again? Probably a lot, because they have no financial investment in the game if it doesn’t hook them immediately they feel no guilt simply putting it down.
Mannord
Pretty pumped to play this. Gameplay looks great and so do the characters. Have a few lined up before but going to add this one in sometime this year.
What a great year for gaming.
AfroBuu
I really want to play. Hopefully, it comes to Playstation.
CJDistasio
Solid game, but it would be interesting to see how many of those are sold copies (I doubt they’ll ever disclose that but still)
twdnewh
Gave it a shot, but the story and characters didn’t click with me.
kensdiscounteggs
It’s one of my favorite games that I’ve played in a long time
Manaphy2007_67
Players isn’t the same as units sold. Also, I don’t understand why they don’t say how much they sold cuz 1 million players isn’t indicative of how many they sold. This isn’t me attacking them as I’m curious how well they did and I do have an eye on this game.
it’s another one of those games with “players” headline
Automattics
I played for about 2 hours on game pass and dropped it, game play and combat felt very shallow. It’s a shame because the story and vibe seemed very cool.

“Obviously, when making a game that’s so heavily tied to a specific region and culture, you’re going to have a lot of sales that are proportionately based on that region.” lol what
manshall
Really enjoyed the game, music and art style were top notch. Took me 22 hours to 100% all the achievements.
Hope they get a chance to make sequel and expand the combat.
Arimer
Gameplay is average but the story, enviroments and especially the music aare all top notch.

Atomfall was successful?
Glad to hear it, I assumed it failed when I saw some of the Steam numbers.
Do we even know how developers compensated in terms of Game Pass? Upfront payment, or per-install type thing?
amazinglover
I rather enjoyed this game and though it was a really solid effort for the first of this type from the studio.
Here is hoping they take another shot at an action platformer and improve upon the foundation they laid out.

South of Midnight? Is this like Song of the South?
