It's such a cool mechanic and can completely change up gameplay. I know there's plenty of vampire games, but few open world RPGs where you can turn into one & turn back via a lengthy quest.
Elder Scrolls has it but I'd love a dedicated 3rd person game like RDR2 in a classic sword and sorcery setting with vampirism.
There is a game called Blood of the Dawnwalker that looks like it'll be the closest I'll get. Former W3 and Cyberpunk director is helming it so I'm hoping it delivers.

I had a glitch where I couldn’t get rid of it. Basically played the game as a superhuman at night. Pretty fun but annoying at the same time.
I agree, i like vampire and if game allows character for sure my character will become one, though i dont really like elder scrolls handle vampire lore, it just seems to have so many weakness as a trade off for very little power gain
I’ve always wanted a Vampire first-person that was really gritty and dark. Yeah masquerade exists but it is arcadey as fuck and unfortunately if the sequel ever does come out, the footage looks arcadey too, visually impressive but mechanically still very arcadey. I hold out hope for a grand logically consistent vampire game someday.
Check out Blood of Dawnwalker. No release date yet, but it’s in the works.
Sure, but I got it within 2 hours of gameplay and just wasnt ready to deal with that shit without having started even a single guild quest or MSQ. Someone bit me at my first rest at a inn after leaving the sewers it seems.
Had to look up how to get rid of it, and F that quest. Luckely the game has thst dlc with the underwater home to get a temporary cure.
Will probably get myself fangified at s later point in the playthrougj, but not at lv 3.
I wish being a vampire was worth it
I feel like that’s going to be the next trend..
We’ve had zombies, disease, fungus/spores, terrorists..I’m feeling vampires next (hopefully).
Play Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Have you played Vampyr?
I’m excited to scratch my vampire RPG itch with V Rising with their latest update
I caught it in my 2nd or 3rd cave. Now I’m running around naked at night sucking on people.
I remember playing Oblivion back in the day being a vampire. After countless hours I went on a quest to cure my vampirism because I legit missed the sun and was tired of the nightmares.
10/10 vampire experience.
Made me think we need a Legacy of Kain reboot.
Such a great series that sort of just..disappeared.
It feels like an actual curse in oblivion lol. I mean, it’s awesome at night when you’re kicking ass, but it’s so frustrating during the day. It actually gets pretty annoying.
I played Baldur’s Gate 2 earlier this year and tried the vampire character in that game, what a miserable experience that was
Yeah, I’m really looking forward to it The Blood of Dawnwalker

Also V Rising
It’s fun until you can’t do shit during the daytime. I hated being a vampire in Skyrim. My stamina was nonexistent. I always find that guy and get cured when I play through dawnguard
Vampire: The Masquerade part 2 is scheduled to release this coming October. The first one was the best Vampire game I’ve ever played so hopefully part 2 is good. [Trailer](https://youtu.be/D6b6LGubq6I?si=Bfy2oQ9k7szvb_VG)
XD he looks like Bob Lennon in a hoodie.
Cool concept in elder scrolls but not being able to play during the day and going back inside so you can wait and then fast travel feels awful.
I spedrun the quest to get rid of it because it was really annoying
Oh how does the vampirism work in oblivion anyway? I know you take sun damage and stuff but is it like cannibalism in fallout?
Saw this screenshot and immediately thought it was two worlds for some reason, but then read the description and got sad that someone wasn’t suffering through the experience of the “oblivion killer”.
It was called Redfall and no one bought it
Have you played v rising
Being a Vampire is mostly annoying in Oblivion.
In Skyrim, it is pretty damn fun.
It’s what Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 sounds like….but every update about the game makes it sound like the developers lost sight
Thank you to those who recommended V Rising. I’ve not heard of it and just picked it up on sale for half off.
I just play Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor/War and pretend I’m a vampire. Got hypnotism, immortality, life drain, a cool cape.
Yeah it’s a cool mechanic and makes for some really immersive gameplay opportunities!
One of my first playthroughs back in the day I ended up as a vampire and started the quest to remove it. Not knowing I had to wait for the person’s house to open, I ended up picking the lock, permanently making them angry at me. I was unable to progress the quest.
So I needed to go to a chapel to be cleansed, but there was a problem…my character was pretty damn infamous.
So began the process of a formerly evil vampire roaming Cyrodiil doing noble deeds until he could finally be considered good enough to be worthy of a cleansing blessing from the Nine.
Absolute cinema moment and one of my favorite gaming memories.
V Rising is great for vampirism. It’s more a Diablo-like when it comes to combat, but with base building, varied weaponry, spells…
It’s great fun in multiplayer, but you can absolutely play it solo if you wish.
I like games where you can become a vampire, but where the game isn’t about being a vampire.
Kind of related to vampire stuff, I wish more rpgs had evil/dark magic options. My first question in every rpg I play is “is there any dark magic, or evil options?”, and my enjoyment of a game can increase tenfold if it’s got it.
Just let me have my necromancy and blood magic dammit! Let me be some ugly evil mf. There’s so many games I’ve dropped because I get bored of being a Goody two-shoes.
I’ll see your vampire stuff, and raise you lycanthropy. There is far less of that, and it saddens me.
Vampirism and lycanyhropy are both so cool. Their only downside being kinda meh when implemented.
I’m not a huge fan of it in Elder Scrolls, especially Oblivion.
It becomes an inconvenience if it gets any worse than the lowest level. Not being able to go out during the day sucks. Nevermind the increased inconvenience and difficulty as it gets even worse. So it naturally becomes most efficient to feed regularly and keep the vampirism from becoming a constant issue.
The powers that you get for being a basic vampire are okay but nothing you couldn’t get with magic. It’s cheaper and that’s nice but that’s about it.
Ultimately being a vampire just comes down to being inconvenient. It’s cool, but having to feed all the time for powers that you could get without it isn’t really that great of a deal.
Also, if you’ve never played V Rising that might be up your alley.
I always play as Dunmer in TES, so Vampire Dunmer is my go to.
Red eyes, Rude/Rough Face, dark pale skin? That’s my default, motherfucker!
Also, Fire vulnerability? What? Get lost, scrub.
There is supposed to be a Blade in development.. I think Marvel are involved though so dont hold your breath
