I once had a windows update issue that was so bad sfc /scannow would lock up cmd. I ended up having to look at where the log file ended and pulling the broken file from an installation .iso

it is the first troubleshooting step i’d attempt though.

just Windows + R and that was my last command too

Whenever i search for a solution i always avoid microsoft community posts. Such a waste of time 99% of times.
My god 😭. They literally have everything but an actual answer.
Also your supposed to do sfc /scannow not sfc/scannow
