idk how poor you must be, cause SSDs like the Kingston NV3 are extremely cheap, cheaper than many HDDs out there.

  2. Common_Dot526

SSDs are not that expensive anymore

Who uses HDDs in the big 25 anymore, imagine /s

  3. Moist-Pickle6898

SSDs (besides the top of the line brand new ones) are just as cheap if not cheaper than some HDDs. People aren’t looking at you like that bc you’re poor. They’re looking at you like that bc you’re being dumb.

  4. you have been able to buy ~$50 1TB SSDs for years now

  5. calicocidd

It’s ok, I have an HDD in my build… I mean, it’s not hook up to anything, I was just too lazy to remove it when I installed my m.2 drive; but still…

  6. Awkward-Ad735

Oh yeah well I have 2 hdds. 😜

  7. Reasonable-Boss8362

Ssd is the standard now, my kid later will grow up looking at an ssd how we look at floppy disks😂

  8. mrestiaux

It’s 2025. There are zero excuses to be had for using a hard disc drive to boot.

    Edit: spelling and grammar

  9. Izan_TM

SSDs big enough to boot from are literally 10 bucks

  10. coolmayes

But my 6Tb of hdd can hold my entire steam library

  11. notrealgordonfreeman

Please tell me you’re using the HDDs for a NAS, right?

  12. Buy an ssd even 125 gb, install your OS there and use hdd for rest of the storage, you will feel the speed up in day to day activities.

  13. usersub1

Is it the same face they make after their SSD breaks 5 years into use?

  14. No-Fruit-7213

I did that exact face when I read it

  15. Emu1981

If you are only running a HDD in the year of our lord 2025 then I highly suggest that you do anything to at least upgrade to a 128GB SSD to run your OS on (or bigger to install the game of the day on as well). It will be a life changing event for you as your boot times drop to sub-30s and your OS starts to do things almost instantly instead of your computer taking it’s time to consider things before doing them…

This meme is outdated for like 10 years. In my country you can buy 1TB SSD in same price as 1TB HDD.
If you need a higher capacity SSD, it’s probably for working purposes or at least learning and that’s worth investing in.
Except few series HDDs larger than 1TB are pretty specialized anyway.

prob with HDDs is how windows manage them, they almost run constantly when they should not, I had a 2TB back in the day I was a kid (15years ago or smth) and its only purpose was the storage of movies and music, I would use it like 5 times a week but when it started dying, I would check its health and it had like 100 000 hours of usage. I remember something like 10 years of usage that should simply not have been the case for something I used so few times.

Nowadays when I go to bed in the dead silence at 2am I often hear my SO’s HDD wake up for no reason when late gaming. Same thing it’s just storage, All games and systems are on SSDs, we’re slowly replacing every HDDs. the better solution would be to have an easy way to turn it off when not needed, it would be less bothersome than having them in a NAS meaning not having HDDs on your main PC

  18. Seven-Arazmus

    SSD’s are affordable these days.

  19. McQuibbly

Think its just a matter of people just using their HDDs to get more time out of them vs buying brand new HDDs as upgrades.

  20. Careful-Badger3434

Sata ssd is so cheap now and ten times faster than the fastest hdd

  21. Igor369

You have time to make memes but no time to pick up any extra job for a few hours to afford a cheapest ssd just for windows?…

  22. Crocs_And_Stone

Me when my friend said he has an ssd but it is an external ssd

  23. Chicken-picante

Do you need a dollar? When was the last time you ate any food?

  24. Cheefnuggs

SDD’s aren’t significantly more expensive than HDD’s anymore so there’s really no good reason to not to have one.

  25. Kelehopele

I have all three types in my PC.. 2 2tb ssd for games and other stuff, 2 4tb HDDs in raid for backups and 1 512gb m.2 as sys drive…

  32. PM_me_opossum_pics

Storage is so insanely cheap even if you live in proper 3rd world countries. Its so cheap that I give my old SSDs away when upgrading PCs
