The dude being an ex Bethesda dev does nothing to back up that shitty hot take.

Litteraly everyone knows the gunplay will be touched on.

  2. Marcysdad

So we love remakes and remasters now?

  3. Zama174

I mean, the combat isnt that much different compared to og oblivion…

I thought it was pretty clear they did this so they can churn out more remasters. It wouldn’t make sense to do all that work and money getting UE on-top of the Bathesda engine for just one game.

I expect if this game is a success you’ll see Morrowind, FO3, New Vegas and Skyrim get the remaster treatment.

Fallout 3 is easy to remaster, it’s green tinted with nothing in it for miles.

  6. def_tom

Eh. I don’t need “good” gun combat in an RPG, but whatever.

I just replayed Fallout 3 (one of my favorite games of all time), but damn, I would play it again if it gets a remaster with the same quality as the Oblivion one.

I don’t think there’s any way to improve that awful gameplay. All you can do is just shoot until the target is dead.

Pretty much getting rid of the chance based combat system is the one major gameplay change needed for fall out 3/new Vegas. Just have fun skill efrect damage or crit chance or something instead. Or put more limits on what you can use based on your gun skill.

Mass effect 1 became infinitely better with such a change in the legendary edition. I can imagine that fallout would similarly play significantly better as well.

I sure love my “Ex-Dev of [company] says [obvious thing]” part of gaming journalism.

Well yeah. Wasn’t VATS literally created because of how bad the gun play was?

I wish they would’ve done more with the oblivion remaster and oblivions old systems. Some of the mechanics just feel so dated and awkward and I would’ve loved a fresh coat of paint to make them more modern. Obviously they can’t do a ton because you don’t want to lose the feel of the old game but when I compare Resident Evil 4 Remake to Oblivion, I can’t help but think an opportunity was missed.

So new Vegas won’t eemvem be a topic because Obsidian made it and not Bethesda themselves? I love the mod that stitches the 2 games together (Tale of 2 wastelands, it’s very elaborate) and I’ve played it a lot even now in 2024 and 25

  14. mitchhamilton

man what id give for a new vegas remaster.

  15. ses1989

I understand tech has advanced exponentially over the last 25 years, but goddamn I don’t really want to wait 15+ for the next installment in a series either.

  16. puterdood

Fallout 3 was good and all, but now that Obsidian and Bethesda are back under the same umbrella, I really want a New Vegas remaster.

  17. The gunplay is totally fine for an RPG. I don’t need FPS combat.

  18. LearnTheirLetters

New Vegas please. If you really want to give the fans what they want. That’s what they want.

  19. Featherwick

Considering there are no iron sights in Fallout 3 and that guns are basically spells that “shoot” bullets, yea I’d say they need to update it a bit.

  20. I think if there’s a game worthy of a remaster its oblivion. Talk about mechanics in need of improvement.

  21. skywalkerRCP

I love Oblivion so the remake is hitting me in all the right places. But Fallout 3 would send me to the moon.

  22. Dizman7

I think that’s literally everyone’s thought after playing Oblivion Remaster for 5mins…”OMG IF THEY DO THIS TO FALLOUT 3 NEXT!”

  23. DriftMantis

This is cool and all, but I don’t really want to play the same game again with better graphics and gameplay.

It’s like fine, but I already know all the quests and stories and open world surprises. These games just aren’t new experiences.

I have mixed feelings. I mean, what the hell happened to the Elder Scrolls 6? It’s been in development hell forever. Who knows if we are ever getting a new fallout at this point? Fallout 4 came out like 11 years ago.

If these were any other games, I would be rolling my eyes and thinking it was a cash grab.

  24. ninjastk

There obviously is a market for remastering games when done right, and they can use these projects as stepping stones leading towards ES6.

  25. VoidedGreen047

Are they gonna remove male and female and female clothing/armor variants if they remaster fallout 3 like they did with oblivion?

  26. Great, now they got more leeway to not release tes6
