It's made out of MDF with a teak veneer, laser cut ply and some 3D printed parts (PLA+ & PETG). This project has been going on for about a year (but a big part of that was “research” and “idea generation”). It's made to both stand upright or lay on its side and then can be used as a monitor stand. The general idea was to make something a little more compact but still easy to get parts for.
It supports:
- Motherboard: MicroATX
- CPU cooler: Up to 100mm in height
- GPU: Up to 2 slot & 250mm in length
- Storage: 2x 2.5” SSDs & 1x 3.5” HDD
- Fans: 3x intake and 2x outtake (120mm)
- PSU: Standard ATX up to 250mm in length
The specific parts I put in this case were from my old pre-built [https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/csMXHG] because my current custom-built has larger parts (and I didnt want to break it lol).
Any questions or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

you could even sell it to a beekeeper and relabel its usage
That’s too beautiful of a case to keep horizontal.
I love wood cases. Maybe find some old school furniture for some antique deco art handles
It’s fucking beautiful, I ought to shake your hand with genuine spit on it and congratulate you on a job well done OP!
You see, if the teacher in the woodworking class had told me to “design a PC case out of wood” maybe I would have taken the class a bit more seriously.
This is very cool awesome job.im not an expert but in my opinion you did a very good job with fan placement this should give optimal air flow I would suggest a USB c on your front IO this would make the case seem a little more modern the porosity on your fan shields looks to be optimal and your color choices play very well together.
The case is lovely looking, but I’m a little concerned about airflow with modern parts. I do like that it’s dual orientation, that’s a nice feature. Build quality is a little iffy in the back there, but for a homebuilt I’d overlook it if you weren’t specifically asking for feedback. Personally, I’d take this as a prototype and do another version out of natural wood rather than MDF.
As for the build, I don’t love the red fans, and two fans on a three fan slot with such highly visible fans gives it a weird asymmetry, particularly in the horizontal configuration. The less said about cable management the better, even for a case without a window.
Overall: Good job!
In my Experience MDF is not very good with changing temperatures or humidity (It gets very frail over time), so you gotta make sure you have stable temperatures as much as possible. For a project like this, the working temperatures are probably the most important thing to constantly check.
A possible feedback for the future is maybe print a little case for the cables, like a tray so they stay there and then you wont see a cable mess when the case is open, more of an aesthetic thing though.
And probably the best advice I can give you for the future (and you are probably gonna hate me for saying it) is: dont leave the write up to the end.
Partial board PC go crazy
It’s actually super cool, I feel like like the hexagon in the center should have had a different pattern or maybe even have been mesh just to spice up the side panel but I dig the beehive aesthetic I’d buy it
Id fuck it.
Wow, awesome!
Need more ports on the front is what I immediately notice
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yessssssssssss please. I want one OP
My expert opinion is I would love to have this.
My expert opinion as a woodworker, gamer, and PC building enthusiast: Neato!
Nice design and wood work. Just a though, wood is an insulator. I wonder how much that impacts the internal temps? Probably not that much but would be an interesting experiment.
I’d redo the button/port panel.
USB are too deep it looks like and the obvious chipping etc.
Not end of the world but that would bother me.
… Someone has to contact u/raiderofawesome …
i honestly want an wooden pc case able to fit a massive gpu and matx motherboard and tye Corsair rm1000x although none have been perfect besides the lian li a3
Oh yes, good old image processing with python, loved messing with it in comp sci classes
Wow, you did an awesome job! Love the Beehive theme.
Nice case wonder what the temps look like though
This is a work of a mad genius. I wouldn’t make reset button as large as the power button, but man the details are so nice
What game is that classroom from?
how much does this beast weigh!? Looks amazing though.

I’d buy this.
So cool and unique!!.
well done.
It’s awesome work. I’d lightly sand and paint the mdf when you have a chance. Seconding the comment about USB C. The finishing work will help neaten up some of those areas like the power button
Great airflow. Nice job! I’d have opted for the side to have another vent on it and maybe a small plexiglass window but that’s just me. (A little window would have looked quite nice. Definitely not necessary)
Overall, great job.
Dude I thought this was a case you could BUY. No idea you had built this yourself until after reading the post.
Good job OP.
Fucking Sweet Dude!!! – u/zeeblefritz
Put that in there.
That is wonderful. Congrats on the project.
Add a little cable management in there, Velcro strips would work well for that, to give a cleaner appearance for showing off the project. I would probably add a third fan on the front bottom to balance out the look from the front.
Reminds me of the old antec 900
I’m no expert, but I know what is visually appealing and this fits the bill. Nice work!
