It looks like every unreal 5 game.

never had the chance to play oblivion. my first love in gaming was skyrim when i was young and it made me fall in love with gaming. Hopefully this game gives me a small hint of that magic from when i was a kid!

  3. YeaSpiderman

I have never played. I really enjoy rdr2 for exploring. Would I enjoy this game?

  4. Ok_Historian_6293

I saw this is gonna be your first play through yeah?

I feel that pieces of Oblivion are way more in depth than Skyrim (see all the guild questlines)! You’re going to get to see why everyone who played Oblivion was so excited for Skyrim to come out!

I envy you, Oblivion would be the first game I’d play again for the first time if I lost my memory haha!

    Performance is poor unfortunately

  6. General_Boredom

I don’t remember the original game being this brown.

  7. r/gaming is just going to be nothing but screen shots of Oblivion for the next week, huh?

  8. thefilmguy1

Wow, pales in comparison!… or rather “it’s pale in comparison.”

Obviously many things are improved but this doesn’t look as good, stylistically, as the original. Atleast from this exterior screenshot.

Why does it look so foggy and washed out?

  10. Skunk_Gunk

Just praying for them to fix the difficulty scaling.

I’m playing through now (first time playing either one) and I find myself lost in the dungeons and caves lol.

Like, sometimes I’ll be completely lost, other times, I get to what I guess is the end, and there will be a chest with 16 gold in it and a weak potion of healing.

I guess I’m just whelmed when it comes to dungeons and such.

Also, the “loop” feature for getting back out of a dungeon when you’re done is kinda whack as well.

In Skyrim, when you got to the end, there was a clear path that took you back to the beginning of the dungeon so you could get out. In Oblivion it’s like, ok now turn around and go back I guess?

They should’ve switched to unreal long ago

  13. Sjoerd93

Don’t get me wrong, but this screenshot honestly looks like every other open world game from the past 15 years. In fact if you’d have told me this was literally just Skyrim I would have believed that.

Surely there’s better screenshots to show how good this game looks? As the picture I’m looking at here really doesn’t justify the heavy system requirements for this game.

  14. Walking outside of the sewer gave me the same feeling of awe the original did years ago.

  15. sercommander

When I first played Oblivion I had the same impression “Damn, this is like a painting”. Took a boatload of screenshots, especially lone houses and structures and tables filled with food and clutterware.

  16. GuanoQuesadilla

I love how the jaw of that goblin head on the staff moved around as you do. Was that level of detail in the original?

  17. tumblew33d69

Could you have picked a worse screenshot to show off this games beauty?

  18. briareus08

I played the hell out of Daggerfall, then skipped Morrowind and Oblivion due to bad timing. I’m very excited to get back into this one. Loved Skyrim, hoping this one lives up to it.

  19. MishatheDrill

Are you using a mod or being sarcastic? Why is everything so brown?

Is this meant to be a joke I am missing?

    Genuine questions, not sarcasm.

  20. Strange-Title-6337

Is it the same as old game in terms of non graphic elements?

  21. Maximus19481

Absolutely loving it , hope they fix the stuttering issue when running at ultra settings because it is indeed beautiful

  22. BlackAera

A friend of mine tried it on gamepass and uninstalled it 2h later. Yes the graphics are nice but it’s a 20 year old game and sadly it shows. Mechanically it’s still the same and Oblivion wasn’t exactly known for it’s great gamedesign back in the day. I know people have a perverse love for that Bethesda jank but it was just unplayable for him.

  23. 613Hawkeye

My standout memory from this game and playing it back in the 00s was whipping out to adventure on my horse, and then dragging any unique items back to my pad in Anvil. Can’t wait to play this!

  24. chinchindayo

Not the TES 6 we asked for but the TES we need.

  25. Safe_Chicken7421

I played this game (original) when it launched and now I’m plating this remaster version, but I don’t remember that in the original version the play mechanics were so “dumb” I mean I’m currently playing the game and I don’t get the reason to use health potions, and or consume health healing items since the health of the character regenerates rally fast by it’s own, as I mention I don’t recollect for the health items to be this useless in the original version of the game BUT my mind is not as sharp as 19 years ago (19 years ago I was 30)

  26. If they arent currently making a remaster of fallout: new vegas to coordinate with the release of fallout season 2 they have royally fucked up

  27. Fineous40

I liked how the mouth moves on your staff when you start and stop.

  28. comfy_bruh

My dudes! I was watching my brother play this game and my sides left the planet Earth as I noticed the jaw on that staff is now slack and has physics. I don’t remember the original having that feature or am I just old. LMK.

Skyrim was the first game of this style I ever played. My senior year of high school I saved up money, bought an Xbox 360 that came with a download code for Skyrim (which was about 2 years old at that point). It changed everything for me- I had never experienced such immersion before. So now, I’m diving into Oblivion Remastered pretty much blind, and at about 3 hours in I’m blown away. What a game. Makes me feel like I did in high school playing Skyrim for the first time
