Since he’s still under contract with NAVI, are they still paying his monthly salary? Or it’s different for benched players? I imagine if NAVI would accept a smaller buyout an org would eventually buy him before his contract ends.

its likely related to IEM Sydney in late 2023. As far I recall, it was reported that he had to miss out due to him acquiring paperwork for EU residency.
But its been rumored that the real reason he missed IEM Sydney was because he was drunk and high and thus missed his flight.

Can you blame the navi? Simple simply said “well, I feel like going on hiatus, I’m not going to play for x amount of time, disinherit yourselves”. Navi could cancel his contract and send him away, but they could also choose to bench him and keep him there until his contract runs out. The only person who did badly here was simple, he had a contract, he kept it. He could have been bought, but nobody wanted him, probably because he was shit at cs2, that’s what he is.
No player is bigger than the team.

inb4 „you don’t play professional anymore or we leak the affair with a minor” or some other similar career ending scandal. If the contract would lead to that they have to compensate the full damage – same as within regular employment laws.

Seems like Navi are trying to sue and s1mple has to wait it out?
