besides all bloatware 11 isnt that bad

  2. LexTheGayOtter

At least we had 10 to go to, imagine if they’d done windows 7 EOL when the only alternative was windows 8 thats basically what we have now

It’s been 3.5 years since Windows 11 has been released and people are still hesitant about adopting. I only recently made the switch and am thankful I didn’t have to deal with the crap that came before. There are still insane things in Windows 11 like a crippled taskbar, obfuscated right-click context menu options, overall confusing system settings, getting to the audio controls in two clicks instead of one. The OS is passable, but in no way amazing. I also had to remove a bunch of crap default settings when first installing Windows 11.

there’s no reason to it’s just a waste of effort and time. plus I’ve got programs for mixing audio that will now require upgrades at great personal cost. I’ve yet to see a compelling reason for Windows 11 to exist at all. just leave us with our good working systems

  5. Wak3upHicks

For windows 10 though it at least had “it’s not 8” going for it

  6. RevolutionaryCarry57

And before Windows 7 it was XP. People always get used to their OS and don’t want to change. For me personally I’ve used everything from Windows 98 through Windows 11, and of course there are some certified classics (like XP and 7), but overall I think only Vista and 8 have been outright duds.

For me Windows 11 is a nice OS, minus the bloat. Run a debloater, or use something like Tiny11 and you get all the niceties without the annoyance. Overall I think people overreact to new versions of Windows.

  7. While I’m sad to see windows 10 go, you’re out of your fucking mind if you think I wouldn’t take windows 7 back in a heartbeat. Windows 7 was fine. Windows 10 was worse, and windows 11 will be even worse still

  8. SipoteQuixote

When I went from windows 3.1 to windows 95, even though 95 was fucking great.

  9. -Shameem-

Man, W11 isn’t even that bad. Except for the right click menu change of course.

  10. ChaosAnims

And we’ll do it again with Windows 12 cause it’ll be even worse

  11. To be very fair, the forced update from 7 to 10 nuked my pc and forced me to upgrade. It made me a little salty about installing the version.

  12. OverexposedPotato

I need to update my bios to upgrade, ive been meaning to do it for the last 3 years, but I always end up gaming instead, maybe next year

  13. Trick_Actuator5763

there is still some mindless Tw@s who think using Windows 7 is some middle finger to Microsoft. the real middle finger is not using windows at all.

  14. Maddog2201

11 is passable, but the threat of forced “features” like copilot and recall is enough for me to want to permenantly switch to linux. They’re pushing some of it to 10 as well, but I’ll stick to iot ltsc 10 and linux. Ltsc windows 10 doesn’t get forced feature updates

  15. Salter_KingofBorgors

I still wish I could go back to 8

  16. shatteredseals

My real gripe with 11 is that turning all background apps off is incessantly hard. Whereas on 10 its a switch, also requires less clicks to get everywhere. The nice part about windows is that it was the nice middle ground between extremely user friendly interface and something a bit more complex to get used to or set up like ubunto/linux. With 11 they’ve dumbed it down more and more and I’m pretty sure thats what most of us don’t like.

    Linux

The difference this time is that Windows 11’s system requirement are utter bullshit, surely designed to sell more computers and new Windows licenses. Even people who want 11 can’t have it because their CPU isn’t supported even though it runs Windows 10 with no issues whatsoever. So much e-waste.

My laptop doesn’t officially support 11 but has it because of a work-around. And it runs with no problems. So why does Microsoft say it can’t be done? Bull. Shit.

  19. TwistedTreelineScrub

Does this pattern still make sense if things just keep getting worse and worse? (it does)

  20. Chip_Li-RM35M4419

    They just keep getting worse.

  21. mohd2126

If I have to switch off Windows 10, I’m switching to Linux.

  22. DrkMaxim

I hate the fact that I 100% relate to this, even though I’m a full time Linux user.

  23. EhEhEhEINSTEIN

As much as I didn’t want to give up 7, Bluetooth devices worked so much better for me on 10. And I like task manager much better in 10, though I know there’s are programs to make 7’s TM look like 10.

Probably riding 10 all the way to the end before deciding what to do. 11 isn’t that bad, but it’s not that good either.

  24. EliRocks

I hated leaving 7. Used it since like 2009ish. I built a new computer, and a buddy at work got me a code/product key for the ‘beta’ or whatever the early release was. I kept 7 until I absolutely had to upgrade.

It’s not even that it was a flawless version, just that it was fine/good enough, and I was used to it.

  25. -Helicopter-

If win 7 had dx12 support I would still be using it

  26. ShadowSystem64

Me sitting here running Windows 10 LTSC IoT. Good with security updates until 2032.

  27. blacklotusY

Then when they launch Windows 12, people are going to complain again about moving from Windows 11 to Windows 12. The cycle never ends.

  28. klysium

I’ve been using win11 for a long time. I used WinAero Tweaker to make the experience better. I recommend checking that tool out

  29. tetzudo

Well yes, turns out we don’t want to keep getting shittier and shittier OS. It is not because people suddenly love what we currently have.
Especially in this case with Microsofts extreme push towards AI, their even more broken search function, the horridly infantilized ui, the amount of pre-packaged adware (seriously, mobile games and casinos????) and their complete disregard for privacy and autonomy.
Personally, I am able to make use of tools and other OS to get around this, but the average user doesn’t and they are getting fucked over big time.

    Fuck Microsoft

  30. Dear-Tank2728

Pretty much. It took an entire new pc to update to windows 11 and i only did it begrudgingly. While its mostly fine the right click menu absolutely makes me livid. THEY FUCKING IPHONED MY DAMN PC OS

  31. Brock_Petrov

Windows 7 was the peak. It had every modern feature people want with none of the spyware. And quick search would actually find what i wanted, not open bing search results

  32. BiAndShy57

Are there any good operating systems?

  33. Auraknight98

What annoys me more tbh is, that even with all the system requirements, for some reason my system doesn’t let me upgrade.

  34. Aderj05

If windows 11 didn’t shove AI down your throat I wouldn’t be too upset about being forced to upgrade. It still sucks compared to 10 though.
