I wish companies remembered how to compress file sizes…

  2. NovaHorizon

Someone take a quick look at nexus mods and add up the sizes of all the top tier patch / overhaul mods.

  3. Aizenhym

F for anyone with a slow internet connection.

  4. Zazadeem

What’s the likely hood that we get it next week?

  5. warrantyvoiderer

STALKER 2 is sitting at 155.6GB on my pc.. It’s sorta expected these days with 4k resolution textures.

  6. chuputa

I don’t get why the size of these remasters/remake keeps getting bigger and bigger when they are even running on the original engine(While Unreal Engine 5 render the new graphics). C’mon, the original game was like 7GB!

*This obscene download size was brought to you by Samsung’s 2TB EVO SSD, featuring innovative V-NAND technology.*

    *SAMSUNG, Always Evolving SSD*.

Yea, time to slap like, a third one in there. Sigh.

These download sizes are getting really dumb. Just makes me wanna play old games on old consoles that can’t connect online. Anyone up for SNES couch coop ?

  8. Prodigy_of_Bobo

Ha! Amateur hour headline. You told us the file size IN the headline? Someone’s getting fired tonight bois…

  9. UnfixedBrain

Let’s be honest, these are not leaks, this is Todd Howard testing the waters

  10. Kazuiyo

Ill take a larger install base for faster loading any day.

  11. sweatgod2020

Idgaf if it’s 200 or 250 I’m diving right in. Luckily I have good internet and my backlog is always in storage so I’m ready for this.

  12. -idkwhattocallmyself

Holy fuck is it actually coming?! I was SURE it was all a hoax it was coming this week since E33 and Doom:Dark ages are both in the next 3 weeks. I feel like Oblivion would cannabolize on those sales/subscriptions.

Man if it comes tomorrow I gotta DM everyone who argued with me apologies lmao. Xbox marketing makes no sense.

  13. secretsaucebear

The bigger the better the better the batter bring on the latter in my favorite sweater

  14. Portlander

Who would have known that I was going to get elder scrolls 4 after 5 yet somehow before 6.

  15. Deliriousious

Gonna contain every type of texture file: 1080p. 4k, 8k

  16. Duvoziir

God I just got RDR2 and BG3 downloaded on my Xbox…
I don’t have enough space. Lord help me I might have to go get an extra storage device tomorrow ONLY if it releases.

  17. Z0idberg_MD

This game is like peak nostalgia for me. I was just graduating from college and kind of traveling internationally. I met my wife around this time. Inject this right into my veins.

  18. osterlay

Is this a simple remaster or a remake dubbed a remaster?

  19. i think we need two more remasters before GTA 6 releases

  20. wonkalicious808

Well, I guess I better make sure I have that much free space on my SSD.

  21. ShadowElite86

Got dam! I’ll start downloading when it shadow drops Tuesday and be ready to play on Friday I guess. 😭

  22. BaggyHairyNips

And it’s still going to look marginally better than the original.

  23. ballsmigue

People really don’t realize how much high rez textures take up space wise these days do they lol. MHWilds high rez pack is like an extra 75GB alone?

  24. Slug_core

If we think this leak is true the same leaker said it comes out tomorrow…

  25. RedEyedPig

Why cant they just make 4k textures optional downloads? That is likely very large portion of the file size and very small portion of gamers will ever play using them.

  26. boot2skull

So it will take time for smart fridge tech to catch up to install Oblivion alongside Skyrim?

  27. Quest_Hub

All this “leaking” looks like great free advertising to me.

  28. Jellozz

Doesn’t surprise me, same thing happened with the recent Ninja Gaiden 2 Black release. It’s nearly 80 gigs where as Sigma 2 (which is using the same code) was only around 4 gigs.

  29. Phastic

Wasn’t the original 6.66gb? Unless it’s a full on remake, it does not warrant a 114gb jump whatsoever

  30. onestaromega

I hope it comes out tomorrow. I’ve got the next 3 days off, luckily.

  31. VincentVegaRoyale666

Jarvis calculate the mods in the file size total

  32. anonymous32434

I NEED IT NOW. I DON’T CARE HOW BIG IT IS. IT COULD BE A FUCKING MILLION GIGABYTES. GIVE ME THE GAAAAAMMMMEEEEE

  33. Kurovi_dev

This is entirely in line with a modern game. Final Fantasy VII remake part 2 was something like 150gb, and this is an equally massive game.

Everyone’s talking about textures, but there are very high detail models here too, and those also take up a very large amount of space. Except unlike textures, compression of geometry is more complicated, so the ability to compress and decompress models is more limited.

I just bought a new SSD a few weeks ago to keep up with the latest generation of game sizes, looks like I’ll finally be installing it tomorrow.

On the one hand it sucks that the file size is that large, but in the other I’m glad that they’re going for fully modern and not just some upgraded textures and fiddling with the lighting.
