Remember when AMD had driver issues

I still do. I’ve had my driver uninstall itself and crashes at least every other day.

Dude, literally today I’ve seen people posting that they can buy RX 9070 XT 200$ cheaper than 5070 Ti but they went with 5070 Ti because of driver issues, Nvidia fanboys are insane, just like people that are claiming that Intel CPUs are still better than AMD CPUs.

  3. lovely_sombrero

I luckily skipped right over the big AMD driver problems (went from GTX 1660S to Radeon RX6800XT that was running super stable), only to have more problems than ever with the 4080S.

  4. RaptorPudding11

Is it just for certain gpus because the new driver has been working fine for me

  5. Joaan_21

I thought I was the only one with this bug lol, was really confused why afterburner showed such a low temp when playing

  6. MakimaGOAT

I just laugh at ppl who say nvidia has zero driver issues

  7. PurestCringe

To be fair this is an exception, not the rule.

    ***Yet.***

AMD is still minorly soiling the bed on some aspects, if you wanna play 40k Darktide without constant stutters you need drivers from november.

  8. jxnebug

I have a 4090 and am on 572.83, why is it recommended I go all the way back to 566.36?

  9. Chao_Zu_Kang

Back then, when Windows would force-downgrade AMD drivers to buggy ones. I guess now it is force-upgrading Nvidia drivers to buggy ones XD

  10. IncomingZangarang

I had this bug, Zotac 5080. Interestingly enough it’ll still spin the fans when load is applied, so I haven’t fried anything. I rolled back to 572.16 which was the launch driver? I haven’t tried any other drivers but that one at least to my knowledge works fine

  11. DarthBynx

Dude I thought something was fuckin wrong with my GPU. I was going crazy wondering why the temp wasn’t polling in Afterburner. Reverting fixed it.

    RTX 4090

Luckily with my custom loop I dont have to worry about temperatures.

  13. michi_2010

But I did notice it showing like 26C while gaming when it would usually be at around 40-45C

  14. rebelSun25

Oh , more Nvidia driver issue? What a shame… Anyway

  15. Ruined_Frames

Aww shit just updated the other day. Well it’s had a couple sleep cycles I guess I’ll see if I’m impacted by this. If so I’ll roll back to the December version. But so far I’m playing mostly wow lately with the fps capped so I’m in no danger of overheating the GPU because it’s a heavily cpu bound game anyway and that’s where most of my fps gets lost.

  16. SquidWhisperer

only updating my drivers like once every 6 months continues to be a winning strategy

  17. snakeycakes

When?they still do, even the 90 series are riddled with issues

read the original post, it just clocks back, use HWINFO to monitor the temps or just not install the driver

  18. michi_2010

Hmm very weird… HWinfo seems to show the correct temperature while everything else just shows like 22C

  19. QuadVox

AMD still has driver issues. My 6700XT was nothing but issues in performance caused by drivers being horrible. My drivers even uninstalled themselves several times.

  20. Chewacala

I havent updated my drivers in 5 months now. I’m scared even of opening the nividia app.

  21. DanTheMan827

It’s almost as bad as Intel producing an entire generation of faulty chips…

  22. Tvilantini

I mean, I still hear people talk about problems on AMD side (not like Nvidia was either perfect).

Edit: very weird to not post the actual context or from where it comes. It’s talk about Zephyrus G14. Obviously, something related to OEM and Nvidia

  23. PayWithPositivity

They still do, even the new 9070.

    Nvidia just have less.

  24. EveryNameEverMade

As I literally just updated like 15 mins ago. Was wondering why the GPU temp wasn’t showing in afterburner. I’ll roll back the driver now after seeing this. Thanks.
