I thought that the Voodoo Boys were assholes; their perfidious treachery actually knows no bound.

I hate the voodoo boys, but not for their blackwall shenanigans. Because I still believe that the blackwall stuff is mostly netwatch propaganda used to legitimize the corpo controlled net. Are there dangerous, murderous AIs there? Sure, just as there are dangerous, murderous humans. But I don’t believe it’s all like that, just look at Alt and delamain. I think it’s more like cyber Badlands. Dangerous, but not literally hell on earth.

I respect the hustle, but they fucked with the guy who robbed the Arasakas and turned up chilling in his apartment building a week later. Yall didn’t scan we well enough, I sentence you to go commit die.

I’m so annoyed with the obsessive hate against the vdb in this community. I totally get, why they treat you like the way they did. They don’t do any cooperation with any outsider, ever. V needs something so bad from them, that we even ignore our fixer, who does not recommend working with them. So why is everybody expecting to be treated like on an all inclusive vacation. V can be glad to get what they wanted and be alive.

Bonus objection: I really like the Neuromancer version of the vd boys which fits quite well with all the pieces of lore you can find about them in night city.

Dude they are literally trying to betray humanity to the ai just to save their own hide worse than that they think the ai would actually let them live after that 😂

How have I only just realized that the Voodoo Boys are a cultural embodiment of Roko’s Basilisk bootlickers?

2077 is surprisingly based; both the Netwatch and the NUSA government are the only decent people in this world.

I don’t think everything beyond the Blackwall is evil AI. Maybe, in reality, they were just trying to survive in cyberspace. But since cyberspace is no longer safe—especially with Militech’s Cynosure Project trying to capture them—their only way to survive is to live in real space. Also, Alt is not just an AI; she is a netrunner, so there must be other netrunners like her trap in cyberspace.

“our side” didn’t realise how much this tells you about Alt till my most recent playthrough.

I liked how Brigitte just completely dismisses him as someone who knows nothing when you finally took her.
Then I also like how Alt fried them all in a second

I mean, when you consider the history of Haiti, that sort of extreme xenophobia is quite understandable.

They made the wrong gamble by pissing off V, and they slipped up by allowing Netwatch to play them, but they had exactly zero reasons to be friendly in the first place.

Yeah the VB are trying to get on the side of the AIs so that when the Apocalypse happens, their new gods, the AIs, will spare them and make them kings.

They abandoned their traditional faiths for worship of the demons beyond the Blackwall. Ironically, this is a position popular with the far right. Google “Roko’s Basilisk” (of Eliezer Yudkowsky) and realise that some of the current US government believe this.

    Batshit, baby.
