This is gonna sound sad but I think bo4 had a lot of hype. The community had just come from bo3, a pretty underwhelming ending for such a great game. Then the community sees the aether story is continuing even after assuming it was ending in bo3. As soon as the community saw that it was an explosion of hype.
Then bo4 came around and it was a bit of a disappointment at launch
Black ops 3 definitely had the most hype. After having Mob of the Dead, Buried and Origins all being great maps in a row it added excitement for zombies fans and myself. It delivered on the hype too.
Black Ops 3 had a lot of hype. It was the first Zombies title on the newer consoles at the time, and it came with mod tools. A lot of hype back then
Black ops 3 by far, especially being the first zombies game on the “next gen consoles” me personally I couldn’t wait to finally play zombies with updated graphics etc
Black ops 1, I remember me and my friends being so hype for the first DLC to drop that included Ascension. We all played that map nonstop searching around for Easter eggs and stuff. I never watched YouTube tutorials back then we just learned stuff by playing with randoms that already knew about secrets.
I’m sure this isn’t a popular choice for everyone, but damn those were some fun times. Much hype indeed lol

Definitely BO4. I’ll never forget the BoTD reveal or the cinematic trailer they dropped the day before it released.

I think Black Ops 4 did honestly. Everyone forgets because of how the game was received post launch, but they literally rented out an air hanger for a Zombies ONLY promotional event during E3. When they revealed BOTD.

BO4 probably. After the success of BO3 everyone was hyped for the next big zombies game. So many people were engaged with the zombies at the time and we had such high hopes. Then the YouTubers basically demanded they change everything because they “didn’t want to play the same game they needed to change something.” Then they changed something and all the YouTubers were like “this sucks why is it different” I honestly still blame big zombies YouTubers for BO4’s downfall
I think bo4 had the most hype leading into the game. Bo3 people were excited but it wasn’t the same level with the end of it and chronicles. Unfortunately bo4 had a lot of launch issues and people didn’t take to the game as much.
