My lil bro just got his first pc. My other brother wrote/drew him a little reminder.

  1. Why is Hakari his little paper clip mentor guy?

I mean there’s so much to figure out now that I think about it – I think if you’ve been around a long time you take for granted that with everything there is a learning curve.

Tell him to install Firefox and add the uBlock Origin extension, keeps 99% of the popups and other stuff blocked, also stops some of the tracking cookies.

-use adblocker/ublock/“other solutions” to stop most/all unneeded ads

I need to print this out for my Mom.

  6. Parzivalrp2

thats good but nom 4 is bad, like ms store is horrible.

  7. Wooden_Home8938

disagree you should pirate all of your games if you care about money

  8. MisterBaku

I hope your brother isn’t mad that I’ve broken rule 4 countless times.

  9. Puddlepusss

And remember, if you need more RAM, you can always download it.

How would the kid learn anything if he doesn’t witness the consequences first hand

  11. No_Room4359

dont agree with before last one other then that sure

  12. TheDangerSnek

80% of the points can be solved with ublock origin and noscript.

  13. Marios_Facade

As others have pointed out, the second to last is a commonly broken rule. However, we must all keep in mind that the proposed younger brother is most likely a minor, and susceptible to downloading the wrong things.

Now do the keep away frim stone tiles.

Spread it out into a 30 minute power point presentation and it’s the “cybersecurity” class my company makes us sit through every year.

My mother needs to take that class, not me.

Sadly I know far too many adults who fall for the “Your PC is BROKEN” pop-ups D:

  17. Microsoft store already sounds like a meme. Cant think of many who use it regulary.

  18. LargeMonk857

Need to add this rule to the list: only use steam unlocked.net if it’s a game from a horrible company

  19. lilgarlicbread_

This is good so your brother doesn’t click on any website with a shady domain ~~expansion~~.

I miss this kinda stuff from my childhood, it always seemed so important when you wrote something down for a sibling.

This is so wholesome. you know that kid downloaded a virus before.

  22. Tuziest

I would tbh just give him more loose rules and let him learn his own lesson, a good set of rules are those made from mistakes they made on their own and learnt from

  23. Frodojj

Good rules. When they get older, then they can learn about Open Source software.

  24. SocialMediaTheVirus

Good rules except also they should not use the Microsoft store

Treat *everything* as suspicious until you know for sure it isn’t.

Especially if it asks for money / login / personal details, and ESPECIALLY if those requests have any sense of urgency about them.
