My mate works at one of the best PC components companies in SA. Every release of GPU normally instantly sells out. The 50 series isn’t selling they still have the original stock from release day. The worst of the lot is the RTX 5070 they sold out of all of their 4070, 4080, and 4090s and had hundreds of “Alert when stock becomes avaliable” for the 40 series.
In SA, right now, nearly every store still has stock of the 50 series. They never sold out. They are starting to show up on the “used/refurbished” pages of these online stores, too. The second-hand market for the RTX4070 and above is going nuts and is horrifically expensive.

This makes no sense. Americans threw tea in the harbor because it was being taxed by the British. The tariffs are coming from us. We’re not a colony.

My therapist said something deep today when I asked him about why people aren’t doing things like this today. He said “Everyone didn’t have a phone in their pockets with social media installed in 1776.” And I’ve been ruminating on it all day.
