The choir singing “Will the Circle be Unbroken” when you land in Columbia is S-tier ambiance and foreshadowing. Infinite is a top 5 all timer for me.
I’d argue the first Bioshock did it better, and that there are certainly better intros out there as well.
Debatable still prefer Bioshocks 1 intro with rapture city introduction with that soundtrack.

No matter how objectively good something is, nothing will ever top “you’re finally awake” just because of how much it made me laugh when I first played skyrim

Prey’s intro was pretty damn good with the discovery of the simulation and breaking out of it
It’s fantastic. Idk if it’s the best, but it’s certainly in the discussion of “all time” intros.

Idunno, metal gear solid 3 still gets me going.
I think if we hadn’t seen all the trailers to Bioshock infinite, seeing the sky city would have been absolutely amazing. But since we knew it was coming, it definitely took away from the experience. Man that game was so good.
It was meh for me. Bioshock 1 had more of a wow factor in my opinion. I may be biased because I am a bioshock fan but I did not like infinite because it’s too far from what the game was originally.
I’m not somebody that enjoyed the original Bioshock games simply due to the environment – but I really enjoyed Infinite. It’s one of those games that I would suggest just about anybody who enjoys single-player games to play.

It’s all subjective. My favorite opening is prolly The Last of Us
Uncharted 2 with the train sequence have the most epic introduction for a game ever
I think my personal fav is Uncharted 2
Bioshock 1 > Bioshock Infinite. Both are amazing, but the OG was something else.
If you don’t mean gameplay driven, FF8 is a clear contender.
