I just finished one of the PL endings, and the last conversation with Johnny in the AV before getting the surgery is truly devastating, which left me confused, taking into account I had 85% on its meter and never even remotely chose the openly hostile options in dialogues, did the oil fields mission…
Do I have to follow some egregious standard to get the correct convo or what?
Its shaping up to be a really solid game overall, but this really put me off

There’s no mechanic, it’s always been just a number that goes up as you progress in the main storyline. Doesn’t influence anything except what number and text are displayed in the menu.
There is and has never been a friendship mechanic. The dialogue at the end of PL is entirely based on your oil field conversation with him, same as the secret standard ending.

No. Johnny just sucks if you aren’t as angry as he is. Affinity and Brainrot are not equal in this equation.
The percentages are just set dressing for how far you’ve come in the story.
What does matter are the individual choices you make (dialogue and gameplay actions).
