Probably because most recent maps start out fun while everything is new but then people realize how shallow and boring it is. Modern mechanics are largely to blame and it’s unlikely this will change until maps get more complex or gameplay mechanics change. At least shattered veil has been pretty good so far.

Would any big changes to the game plan happen to line up with that amount of time?

Mainly because gamers are hardly happy with anything anymore. Too high of expectations

Mainly because there’s no replayability anymore. All the people who hate the map are just leaving

The honeymoon phase for shattered veil has just kind of ended for me. I still like the gameplay loop and lower amount of mini-bosses, but the atmosphere and map layout could’ve been much better.

The map isn’t that great. Pretty mid honestly
Soggy-Dragonfruit195
There’s nothing wrong with the maps. In fact, they’re actually great (except with The Tomb being mid). It’s just the mechanics that are unfulfilling to play with. Put the current maps in the BO3 or even BO4 engine and I think people would like them more including myself.
Like take Shattered Veil. A massive mansion map + a Z-rex boss fight is genuinely fun and exciting, **but the mechanics just don’t make the gameplay and atmosphere as immersive** which is why people are not as satisfied with modern zombies. I’m not saying everyone doesn’t like these mechanics, or that they’re all bad. Some people really like the current mechanics and prefer it to the older ones. However, what I think a significant portion of the community is getting at is what I have discussed in terms of the mechanics.

And each cycle there’s progressively fewer and fewer people interested

The tomb made me stop. Shattered veil is good, for now

If you’d please consult the graphs. Real talk tho Mauer terminus and shattered veil are on the same level of the bo3 and bo4 greats besides for a few of the best best maps in the game people are just nostalgia blind and acknowledging that a new map is good would break that view that “new zombies map old zombies good” that 80% of people have

Yeah I’ve noticed but I’ve stopped caring a long time ago how other people feel about certain things. I’m enjoying all of the maps, I couldn’t care less how the unwashed masses online feel about them.
TheRealOddityOnion
been happening since bo4

This didnt happen with Black Ops World

Yeah treyarch’s been a major let down the past 5 years.

The tomb was literally the only Ass map imo. I hope the new ones are as good as SV

I’m still loving the new map, I’m still loving the earlier maps. I just wish I had more time and more energy to stay awake and play after work, that’s my primary complaint with the game.
No-Statistician6404
Maybe? Idk the only map I haven’t liked for a good while is The Tomb
CancerTaco
It’s surprising to me how much hate the maps have been getting. I’ve been enjoying running every map so far in this game. Especially the tomb which seems to be the most panned.

I think the trend of “I can’t be the only one” needs to end. You’re not the only one, lol.
