Played World at War and Black Ops 1 zombies for several years, just got the Black Ops 2 Season pass and played all the maps for the first time. Here’s what I think of each map:

Tranzit: 6.5/10
– The concept of this map is awesome. I love the idea of different locations serving different purposes and having to use the bus to navigate. There are some cool additions, Galvaknuckles are my favorite weapon from the game, the bank and fridge are a bit broken but helpful at times. The new crew is pretty awesome, Misty is my favorite (for her personality of course). There are issues as everyone knows, the fires, the avogadro and denizens are annoying, visually the map is pretty ugly. I learned about the making of this map and how they had to cut a lot of area, I think this map could’ve been great if it was made on a later gen console, but it is still a pretty fun map if you have 4 people. I think the addition of PhD Flopper could’ve made dealing with the fires a lot easier.

Nuketown: 8/10
– This might be the most fun zombies map I’ve played yet. You don’t need to do turn on power or anything to activate Pack a Punch, only need to unlock a couple of doors, and no giant easter eggs. Once Juggernog crashes onto the map you’re pretty much all set to go, and you can pretty much do whatever you want. Also, the mushroom cloud and the crater, visually stunning and creates a great atmosphere for zombies. The ending cutscene is pretty epic as well if you know the Moon lore. One thing that could’ve made it more fun was if PhD Flopper was able to spawn on the map for Mustang and Sallies.

Die Rise: 7/10
– Probably the most hated map at least from what I’ve seen from the community, but I think it’s more of a skill issue. It’s definitely a challenging, linear map, but as someone who was a huge fan of FIVE I liked the challenge it presented. This map definitely feels unique with how you navigate which I liked, and the elevators containing a perk was a cool idea. I would say my complaints are mostly around the lack of new additional items/weapons, less than impressive visuals, and not many places to camp/train. I also feel like adding PhD Flopper would’ve been huge for navigating the elevators.

Mob of the dead: 9/10
– This map is so fucking cool. Seeing actors I recognized from a bunch of different movies and shows, Alcatraz Island as a location, the Hells retriever, and a whole lot more. Also, the only map with the AK47 (Reznovs Revenge is amazing). The first time going to Pack a Punch was awesome, probably the coolest PaP spot so far in zombies. This was a nice change of pace from the previous maps, going for something a little more casual and less challenging. I could go on and on, but I would end this with saying the story is probably the best any singular map has had so far. Only things I would say are it is a tad too easy for my liking, and I didn’t appreciate them teasing PhD Flopper to the side, just put it in the map!

Buried: 9.5/10
– This map is pretty much perfect IMO. The setting and visuals are unique and stunning, it has a great balance of challenging but also fun to play, and includes a lot of new features and weapons not seen before (Vulture Aid and Ray Gun II are great). Leroy is an interesting addition and the ghost lady is a cool idea for a boss. I’d argue the time bombs are a bit game breaking, it’s nice to get a 2nd chance though. They brought back PhD Flopper as a perma perk, it’s cool but I still wish I could buy it from the machine.

Origins: 10/10
– I can’t think of a single flaw I have with this map. Seeing the original crew again made me smile, tranzit crew was cool but nothing will beat the WaW squad. The atmosphere of this map is stunning, the robots and the planes and everything is surreal. It feels like every place on the map is a good spot to stay the whole game, with lots of navigation and the ability to fight zombies while moving is the best it’s ever been. Lots of new weapons and items, great easter egg song, Boss’s are well balanced. The only complaint I would make at all is that for a newcomer, I had no idea what I was doing and needed to watch youtube videos to figure stuff out. Also, for the first time ever, I can actually get PhD Flopper, even if it isn’t from the actual machine itself, it’s about damn time.

Overall, a pretty solid continuation of the zombies mode, including some of the best maps in the series. I would still say I personally prefer BO1 zombies, maybe it’s bias, maybe it’s the lack of PhD Flopper(seriously wtf) but I will continue playing these maps and maybe I will change my mind.

I’ve personally never liked TranZit or Die Rise, but the other maps are peak

Good reviews and I can agree with all of them. Would you try out BO3 zombies? One of my fav BO zombies game

Bro just wanted different ways to say he wants PHD Flopper on the game 😂😂

I think bro is a fan of PhD Flopper

I’m so glad you enjoyed everything! It really is a great selection of maps and it’s rare to see people give the first three their due nowadays.

I wonder, how did you feel about the smaller cut-up maps – Bus Depot, Farm, Town, and Cell Block?

Transit with friends = fun af

    Transit solo = pain

Die Rise is my favorite map on BO2, followed by Buried. I’m not a fan of Origins, and i’d rather play Blood than Mob, Nuketown just sucks as a zombies map, and Trazit is alright but not great. I’d rather play town or farm than actual Tranzit. Buried is a close 2nd to Die Rise

Ur allowed to like die rise but it has serious flaws with map pacing. Elevator keys shouldn’t be single use. Also I have no clue what u mean by hard, that’s like the second easiest map behind buried. You can just camp with the sliquifier till 100+

Black ops 2 was peak for me there was so much creativity and different maps to play and the bonus modes were cool

i love that PhD is mentioned in every map

The only thing I disagree with you on is Die Rise not having enough training/camp spots. There are many good training spots, the Tramplesteam room is where most of the high round runs have been trained, the Buda room, the sushi bar, PDW room, and dragon roof are all also solid training spots.

In b4 people try to gaslight you into thinking buried is actually bad and worse than all of the bo6 maps.

Treyarc adding PhD Floppa to the one map where you dont start with the M1911 has to be the funniest joke ever

I really never got the Origins hype. The fact that those generators get attacked every 5 minutes drove me mad. Wasn’t a fan of being slowed down in the mud either.

    Not many understand Nuketown🤝🏾

I’m so glad u didn’t just complain about difficulty factors and rank them low. Cuz most new age zombie players that’s how they rank maps, if they’re too hard it’s a bad map

Black Ops II is my favorite Zombies game so it’s dope that you enjoyed it. Die Rise is lowkey underrated. Nuketown Zombies is so fun. Mob of the Dead, Buried, and Origins are obviously all GOATS. TranZit isn’t very well-designed but it’s so bad that it’s good (at least on co-op) and it’s not forgettable like bad maps you’d find in other games like Exos, WWII, Vanguard, etc. There’s a map for everyone in the game. If you want an epic adventure with challenge but plenty of reward, you go with Origins. If you want an atmospheric experience with a deep, underlying story and a classic escape plan, you go with Mob. If you want a casual experience with the ability to feel as overpowered as you want and you’re not alone even on solo, you go with Buried. If you want to put your platforming skills to the test in a rare vertically designed map, Die Rise. TranZit is TranZit, enough said. And if you’re just in the mood to play a simpler Zombies map, you got Nuketown, Town, Farm, Bus Depot. The weapons pool on the box is probably the best in the series. There’s amazing weapons you can get, and terrible weapons as well, which makes the mystery box properly feel like the gamble it’s supposed to be, unlike BO3 where generally every gun out of the box is good or at least decent, and the worst BO3 weapons you can pull out of the box like Sheiva or Pharo are already wall weapons as well. However, the terrible box weapons on BO2 can be turned usable or even good after upgrading them if you’re willing to hold on to them, unlike WaW or BO1 where the terrible box weapons (WaW can also give you wall guns out of the box like the Kar98k) tend to stay bad or underwhelming even after upgrading them. The supplementary modes like Grief and Turned are also fun to mess around in. Just an all-around strong game 💪

If you enjoyed the maps I’d also recommend checking out speed runs of the Easter eggs for those maps in particular. Fun and entertaining to watch
