Honest question: does link’s awakening count here? I only ask because there are some things that are just objectively different.

Also lets not pretend nintendo is the originator of this practice.

Thank you Nintendo for doubling the price of my copy of All Stars thanks to your artificial scarcity.

Only remaster I’ve ever bought was the Goldeneye disappointment. Never again.

GTFOutta here, this doesn’t fit with the narrative we’re trying to push of Nintendo suddenly becoming profit driven.
I’m with you that this upgrade strategy combined with backwards compatibility sounds like what we all would have praised a generation or two (or three) ago. There’s so much misinformation out here right now about what you get for what money and in what conditions that it’s truly amazing. I feel like this will be way more clear as we actually approach release and things actually go on sale.

Wait, if I already have those games I can get the upgraded versions for 10 bucks? I’m *into* it

2004 quality games for 90 plus tax

OP: leave the multibilion dollar company alone! They were doing this shitty practice before so it’s totally okay to do this now too!

Paid £45 for FF12 in 2007. Paid £40 for FF12 HD in 2017.
No idea what you are on about.

imagine sony chargin 10$ for gran turismo 7 ps4->ps5 upgrade while every other game ps5 update is free, and no one complaining

Who complains about $10?

Skyrim released at full price on like 69 different platforms and ppl mad about a $10 upgrade lol

Big difference is those remasters are of games stuck on last gen and prior hardware with no way to play them besides emulation and that hardware and now we can play them on modern hardware with a lot of nice improvements and extra content in many cases. Now if breath of the wild was a definitive edition with all dlc and some bonus content then maybe that price tag would be a little more palatable

The mental gymnastics being done to defend a billion dollar cooperation for obvious cash grabs is absolutely fucking insane lol

Yep, you can fairly reliably gauge how successful something is going to be by how strongly terminally-online redditors react negatively to it.
