On my second playthrough I did the quest with Joshua and the cross and I still can't stop thinking about it. What was wrong with the regular hammer? Why replace it with this?

    RGB lights for competitive hammering

While I wasn’t on the dev team, I can only offer this: head over to your local big box home improvement store.

sure, they have regular wood handled hammers that look the same as what your grandpappy saw his grand pappy hammering around the house with, they have all sorts of ridiculous “features” in other, more expensive, hammers now. Things like “composite handles” and “vibration control” design elements and blah blah blah. Seeing some of them on the wall, it’s not hard to jump to the ridiculous visuals in that quest in the game. Basically any flashy new feature to scrub more money off the rubes.

Asking the real important questions in a quest where a guy gets nailed to a cross…

Style over Substance. The very soul of Cyberpunk. 😉

It makes the hammer go faster. You know, just like racing stripes on cars.

Because in dev perspective neon hammer cool.

Realistically, if it is emergency hammer that stripe is probably for high visibility glowing.

What I like most about this post is that I can barely what the fuck that picture is

  8. Everything with RGB works the same as non-RGB counterpart. RGB never added functionality yet it’s popular nonetheless.

go to your local DIY shop, look at the hammers they have on the wall. some new hammers have springs on them, magnets to hold nails in place… and the colours… anything different to make a sale.

if i had the choice to go live in night city im only doing it for the aesthetics.

I mean in a world where a confession chamber is a paid service via a digital console with neon aesthetic, and church masses is held like a rave party, this seems not that far off. Besides, this fare is organized by a BD production house for an entertainment purpose first and foremost. I bet the producer didn’t care about the “authenticity” of the crucxification itself, they only care about how cool it looks and how genuine the “feeling” is.

I though this was a Deeprock Galactic Hammer. Then i woke up and saw it was Cyberpunk I was so confused for 2 mins XD

It’s a buzzword powered buzzword hammer.

Today it would be an AI powered smart hammer. Swing tracking to help you improve efficiency and strength.

Perhaps some internal weight shifting mechanisms to improve your swing, right down to an internal pile driver like device to really add punch. Imagine, being able to drive a big fat 6″ nail into dry hardwood with a tap barely strong enough to set a picture hook on drywall. That would sell.

The lighting is just for style.

Kiroshi assisted targeting. Never miss the nail again.

There’s nothing special about the hammer except the fact that the BD recorders got payed 10 mil eddies to use that specific hammer by KangTao to tease the release of their new CyberHammer 2353

other than style over substance could also be the corp manufacturing these cutting costs hence the simplified design that also looks futuristic
