I'm one of those ppl who has like 600 PC Games and I've maybe played 30 of them. What I like to do is collect games when they go on sale at or near their historically low price and feel fairly accomplished when I net a reasonably good deal. As much as I try to stick to authorized retailers for newer & indie games (it's only fair, after all, they put so much effort into their games, it'd be really shitty to just bypass them with a keyshop), if a game is generally older (more than 3-5 yrs), I don't really see much problem with using a resource like gg.deals that compares prices at both authorized retailers and keyshops like Eneba, Gamivo, HRK, Kinguin, etc.

But I can promise you, after today, I WILL NEVER USE HRK AGAIN. Neither should anyone else.

This all began with a $3 order. Instead of using my Paypal Account proper, I let my browser autofill my Paypal Debit Card into the payment method spot. It's 5AM, I was lazy–I didn't think anything of it. After all, I've purchased from HRK many, MANY times, with no issues.

BUT NOT TODAY. NOPE. TODAY HRK LOST THEIR EFFING SH*T.

Apparently they really, REALLY hate it when you use your Paypal debit card instead of your account, because IMMEDIATELY they froze the order and demanded everything you see above which, btw–they'll review it in 48 hours.

What exactly did they want? Let's see, to complete a $3 order (Which, BTW, they left me ZERO ability to just cancel, forcing me to undergo this outrageous collection of exceedingly sensitive and personal information OVER A THREE EFFING DOLLAR ORDER) they wanted:

  • 1. MY F*CKING DRIVERS LICENSE
  • 2. A SELFIE OF ME HOLDING MY DEBIT CARD SHOWING THE EXP DATE, CID, LAST 4 OF THE CARD, AND NAME
  • 3. A PHOTO OF THE DATE, TIME, AND "HRKGAMES.COM" ON A PIECE OF PAPER.

….For a game that cost $3 that I could have bought literally anywhere else. Oh, and if that wasn't enough, they're in no rush to clear that order, either–48 hours, and thanks for all your personal information.

Just because I used my Paypal Debit instead of Account. And HAD NO ABILITY TO CANCEL THE ORDER, essentially either forcing me into this personal data collection, or the loss of my account, in effect. So, since they already took the $3 without giving me the game, as well, placing it on "hold" in my account, I wrote them a scathing reply after I sent them the info they requested that after they're done using it to verify that I'm not suddenly some rando new customer and that I'm the same repeat customer they've had for well over the last year, that they need to permanently delete that information, because I'm never, ever, ever, EVER buying anything from them ever again.

Look, I get it, there's security, and then there's this. This? This is just egregious, especially when I've used my Paypal Account on their website before and it can easily be verified that that debit card belonged to the same account that they authorized with zero issues many times previously. There is absolutely nothing, additionally, that would have separated using THIS debit card from any other, in that respect, either. The only thing–and I mean the ONLY thing–I can think of that would have triggered them to behave so egregiously is that they would (gasp!) lose 10 WHOLE CENTS from me using my debit instead of the paypal account option to purchase.

$3 isn't worth every last bit of my physical personal information. It def isn't worth this insanity. And it isn't worth yours, either. So now I'm pissed, and angry, and even angrier that I have to complain about this on reddit to all of you in a blantant sh*tpost, but I felt y'all should know.

Don't buy anything from HRK. Esp with Paypal Debit. It'll cost you your life. Maybe literally.

Who would thought that buying games from unknown, redflag website offering cheaper games will try to get your sensitive data

  2. John_Doe_MCMXC

If it aint on Steam or GOG, it’s a no-buy for me.

  3. theeed3

Key reseller have been shit for a long time, only good deals are humble bundle, I buy like most of my games there.

  4. shadowds

Years ago they demanded driver license, credit card, my social insurance number, and phone number, this was for my 1st purchase tried to get Chrono Trigger because they had it at cheapest, what end up happening I charge back on them because they refuse to do anything until I confirm whom I am to them.

So yeah they got nothing from me, they got hit with chargeback fees, and I made sure my bank know of them, and funny enough they had a history doing it to people at random apparently. Never deal with them again, pretty scummy company I have seen that asking too much personal information than any other, and I thought G2A was scummy allowing scammers on their site.

If anyone want to deal with gray market sites, only places I didn’t have problems were these places.
CDKeys, Eneba, Kinguin/G2play, and Instant Gaming. I hands down recommend 1st two because they always been honest, and forward with me with if I ever had a problem.

But for peace & mind if want official stores just use [isthereanydeal.com](http://isthereanydeal.com) at least you deal directly with store that has direct contact with Dev.

  5. Consistent_Research6

Who in his sane mind would do that for a 3$ game, fk that.

  6. DoomSayerNihilus

If you paid with PayPal you just tell them you’ll open a case. They’ll usually cave.

  7. Wollinger

Just call PayPal and cancel with them. Lol

  8. This is shady stolen key store.. what could you expect?

  9. Accomplished_Idea248

First time hearing about this site and I’ve been buying and pirating games for 18 years

  10. BaconHammer9000

OP – did you know Steam and Epic have quarterly sales on games?

there is zero reason to risk buying game licensees from non-mainstream sources.

  11. SaveFileCorrupt

Yo, but what game were you trying to buy, though? 😂

  12. Seeker-N7

You actually sent them the info?

    Lmao couldn’t be me.

  13. Serial_Killer_PT

Out of curiosity, what’s the name of the game you had in mind?

  14. NaughtyPwny

The depths people will go to just to collect a game that they’ll never play…ah well im gonna continue playing and finishing games I been buying full price 🤷🏽‍♂️ (actually deluxe digital pre-ordered, I am apparently the reason why gaming sucks today even though I been having a blast with games from devs that keep making games I enjoy)

  15. ThePupnasty

Them: “Don’t worry, the additional purchases made with your card is to just verify it is real. However, these purchases that we make are non refundable.”

  16. flyingpiggos

And you actually did it for $3. Dawg just buy games on steam and don’t use sketchy gray market sites. I bet your license, selfie, handwriting, and credit card are floating in someones dark web stall rn. Change your passwords and credit card info. Please please please tell a trusted adult (ik ur one but you need one rn) and take a scam prevention class at your local library

  17. jim_forest

gog is the only “reseller” site i trust

  18. Wouldratherplaymtg

Reading this post cost me more than 3$

  19. schmocamecola

You…you sent a picture of yourself, your debit card and your DRIVER’S LICENSE to HRK over a $3 game?

What in the world were you thinking? They are probably flabbergasted at how easy it was to get your data. I wouldn’t be shocked if you never got the key!

You sent them your personal data over $3 instead of just letting them close your account? You’re that worried about your HRK account? Why? I assume you already claimed the keys you bought from them and redeemed them in steam or whatever. They can’t just take the keys back now that you’ve redeemed them. Just make a new HRK account.

It’s pretty hard to feel bad for you in this situation lol.

  20. Less_Low_5228

Good thing I’ve literally never heard of HRK until now

  21. You paid with paypal so just chargeback and buy your game on another site.

  22. AbandonYourPost

OP is denser than a Neutron star. You actually gave them your info for a $3 game?!?

That fact that you think requesting them to delete your info was a “gotcha” moment is just embarrassing. They already have what they wanted. I’d start changing passwords and canceling cards for new ones.

  23. HuskyCruxes

I love pointless PSA’s like this. 99% of people have never heard of this website until you threw it out there for everybody to see.

So thanks for giving more exposure to something you don’t like. That makes perfect sense

  24. JohnClark13

So you bought from a shady site, and then they did shady stuff? fascinating…

  25. bradfo83

    What the hell is HRK?

Why aren’t you getting your games on Steam?

  26. Gnome_0

Bro gave his identity for free and got scammed 3$

  27. manimsoblack

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.

  29. zushiba

Huh, the moment they asked for any of this you should have noped out. Why you continued is the real issue here.

  30. Mr_Resident

i already have iffy feeling using legit side like greenman gaming. now in hell i will use this

  31. SquidWhisperer

there’s no way you sent them a picture of your credit card what the actual fuck is wrong with you

  32. Mindless-Finance-896

The fact that you actually gave them the info they requested is by all accounts – fucking insane. Darwin really was onto something.

  33. AspectLegitimate8114

Bro you’re a fucking idiot. It’s a three dollar order and now they have your photo I.D., Debit card, personal information, and picture. You need to watch your credit and get a new debit card.

  34. SirEnder2Me

Lol if I’m on pc, I’m buying from Steam and ONLY Steam.

I’ve never even heard of HRK and I certainly would never buy a game from some random website. That’s sketchy as fuck.

  35. Doofenshmirtz08

    megathread smh …

oh wait this in pcmasterrace nvm lol

  36. baker8491

Reminder that game devs have said multiple times they’d rather you pirate their game than buy a stolen key from one of these ppl

  37. mYTHEstar

Please, tell me you DID NOT send whatever they asked you for, just please tell me you did not

  38. Rawries186

Lmao, as they say. There’s a sucker born every minute.

  39. Selling your data for 60 to databrokers.

I want physical copies again, just go in the shop an buy it.

  40. lilpisse

So you fell for a phising scam and you came here to tell everyone? Brave.

  41. imheretocomment69

Wait wait wait…let me get this straight. YOU SENT THEM ALL YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO, YOUR FACE, ALL THE DETAILS TO THEM?????

I mean, that’s on you man. That’s screaming all red flags to me. 5am or not, you claim you’re lazy, but you still did all the efforts to take pictures etc and sent it to them. That’s not lazy or careless, you’re just naive and dumb (big time) for a $3 game.

You said it yourself, you can get the game literally everywhere else, why don’t you? So dumb and stupid mistake.
