Meh, it’s easy to get fans quiet. Coil whine is the final boss

Red linear ftw, lol

Nope, not at all. I love my high-end custom mechanical keyboard with silent tactile switches. There are plenty of options nowadays for a premium typing experience that won’t wake up the neighbors.

Silent switches take care of that, but the mouse clicks are another issue.

Anyone who likes quiet keyboard with really loud jet engine/air conditioner fans?

annoying noise vs satisfying noise

Had to switch out my blues for silents to stop bugging my coworkers. It made the world of difference, but typing definitely feels worse on them.

I paid for power and cooling, I’m going to use ALL of it. Set fans to “takeoff”, noise level be damned!

Funny. I’ve never thought about it that way too be honest. The keyboard clicking is far more satisfactory to the ears and isn’t a constant whine.

You know how people practically audio engineered mechanical switches to sound satisfying rather than just silent? Well, call me crazy, but seeing how many people find certain fan sounds soothing, I’d be interested in seeing the same take place with PC fans.

My current PC is decently quiet but I’ve had loud PCs in the past and could honestly care less about a loud PC as long as it means it’s running cool.
That’s what headphones and a high quality mic is for. I can’t hear it and neither can my friends.

Keyboard noise is interactive, it is a response to the user’s actions. And it goes away if you don’t touch the keys. Fans produce a constant white noise, it raises the noise floor and is quite annoying. But to be fair a 40 cm fan from my air purifier is way more loud than an idle PC even at the lowest setting.

I don’t really care about fan noise and keyboard noise actually, I think using headphones to cut em off is better option.

The country I live in is hot all year round so I have an electric fan behind me set to the highest setting. It drowns out any sounds my computer makes. I’ve just decided to use noise cancelling earphones
Interloper_Mango
I don’t mind keyboards you can hear. It is whether or not I can hear their typewriter over the microphone.
