Upgrading from an i7 8700K, EVGA FTW3 Hybrid 1080ti, 32gb RAM, and 128gb and 512gb SATA SSDs. Have everything I need to start building, but now I’m thinking I should get more RAM (96gb kit instead of the 64gb kit I purchased).
Specs:
Intel i9 14900k
MSI Suprim Liquid X 4090
GSkill Ripjaws 64gb 6000 CL30
WD Black SN850X 2tb SSD
Patriot Viper Lite 4tb SSD
Cooler Master Atmos Stealth 360 CPU cooler
Cooler Master Vertical GPU mount
Lian Li O11 Vision
Lian Li EDGE 1300w psu
Alphacool Apex Stealth Chrome fans
ASUS Maximus Z790 Dark Hero motherboard
Thermalright Contact frame
8in LCD screen for O11 Vision in low mode
Basically posting this here so people can verbally harass me for picking 14th gen Intel instead of going AMD on my processor ❤️ but also to share my excitement in upgrading from a 7 year old system.

Well done and congrats
Nice! good quality components. As long as you are able to cool that 14900k then I’m sure youll be fine, just make sure to update your BIOS.
Fuck what people think man it’s your pc. Also, do not forget to update the cpu micro code it should be your first thing.

i would buy anything ure missing right now, before tariffs hit.
The dark horse is such a beautiful MB
Try it out with 64gb and see if you need more
You gotta speculate to accumulate, as the brilliant Lamar Davus once said.
Watch the temps on that MSI, I was considering getting it before I got my Aorus Master but Memory Temps were really high on it.
I want to build my pc slowly too but scared that when its time to build and one component is bad and faulty it be too late to return and do anything about it, or am I just paranoid?
not a great practice waiting so long as you have no idea what is working or what is defective
Get the fuck outta here fake ass loser. No real pc enthusiast holds onto components that long. Plus, the 4090 has never been on sale. Who are you trying to impress?
Yknow im really curious as to why you went with the Intel CPU over AMD
since last November? Congrats your new PC is obsolete. /s
Hell of a deal on that 4090.
Just wait until you press the power button after assembling. Slice of life 🥹
I had considered doing that but was afraid that I would have a DOA component that was past the return window when I got around to assembling the system.
Good luck, looks like it will be a great computer!

Enjoy the build and gaming!
Damn you are patient then a lot of people here (including me)
I hope that PC is worth the wait, enjoy your new beast (also, just as a precaution, update your BIOS to the latest version to avoid the 13/14th Gen instability problems)
Why didn’t you get the 285k
Must be nice to have that kind of space in a house. That’s at least 100 dollars a month for that much space where I live.
Got the same GPU. It’s so good. Enjoy the low temps and slim profile!
Yo how about prices? I’d like to know how much patience is rewarded
Congrats! I just got a Gaming PC for the first time since I was 15 (I’m 25 now) that system was a $600-$700 budget build that’s been in pieces since I was 17. That old system wouldn’t even run most modern games 😭 I’m now the proud owner of a 9800x3D + 5080 monster ☺️ Enjoy the new rig!
Gonna be a sick build. Just curious how you’re gonna mount both 360 AIOs though? The Vision doesn’t have a mesh top option like the compact does.
I have 64GB of RAM and I have not come close to using all of it. I am not coding or making art, only gaming. I had MSFS 2024 hit 29GB of RAM. To me, 96GB is not necessary, but I get it, it feels good to have higher numbers.
Is this a good idea if you don’t have any prior build to check components, I guess the answer is most likely no. But maybe if I buy a motherboard first, I can just slowly buy parts and check everything.
On sale and you got a freakin 4090?
My dude!
Going Intel is crazy but going for that motherboard is straight insane.
intel yikes
mandatory reminder: update bios it is 14th gen intel better safe than sorry
