Visit some Walmart stores, there may be some PC stuff at insane discounts too. I don’t understand why they do that, but I wish I had Walmart in my country

  5. Sharky-PI

Respect the spelling conversion there fam

  6. Puzzleheaded_Sign249

    It’s great, but cheap???

  7. reincarnatedusername

Wow! A shop that needs multiple posts from stopping bad guys crashing nto the store?!

What kind of fucked up country needs that?

  8. Ninja_Weedle

Micro center has great deals on *some* products like their bundles and laptops, but they’ll gladly overcharge for things like RAM or storage.

About 20 years ago the disparity between the EU and U.S. PC components was much greater, and the EU always seemed one or two tech generations behind. That’s largely changed, now imo

“So damn cheap”, even I as a belgian know that’s false. You’re used to UK prices with included VAT. US prices don’t have VAT. They have a sales tax that’s not included in the MSRP (and can vary greatly at the state and even county level)

Right, it’s so much fun! I have to be careful or else I’ll always leave with more then I planned

Fuck yeah, as a fellow Brit I’m so jealous of Microcenter too.

There are no shops like it at all in the UK any more, even PC World (don’t be fooled by the name) is shit these days. It used to be alright but still nothing like Microcenter is. I’m puzzled though, surely there is a market for it these days.

    **WE. WANT. MICROCENTER!!**

Buy anything you want now, prices are going to go NUTS soon.

You would have been amazed at Fry’s Electronics during its heyday.

  15. BlueJay06424

the nearest MicroCenter to me is 2 hours away and I thought that was rough. I guess I should be happy I at least don’t have to cross the Atlantic 🙂 Probably good for my wallet I don’t live closer

I am also fromthe UK and went it my first Micro-centre last year. I was on holiday with my mum and was like a kid in a candy store dragging her around the whole store talking about PC parts. She is not really one for showing much interest in my hobbies but she said she had a good time walking around the store. I only bought keycaps though, could have bought the whole store.

Spread the good word when you get back

May our temple of technology reach your shores

You weren’t here for the Golden Age of PC building when we had Fry’s Electronics, Microcenter, and local mom and pop shops. Each Fry’s was huge and had their own theme (Space, Atlantis, Aztec ruins etc)

  21. WorkEmu9652

Welcome to Chicago friendo, hope you enjoy your stay, sorry for the horrible weather currently 😕

  22. EntitledEnlightened

You lucky bastard… Was it just as you imagined?

  23. UltraX76

mate, you got mad lucky just before the tarrifs ruined everything, good job

  24. Mr2-1782Man

Sadly a lot of us Americans have to travel just as long to a MicroCenter.

  25. bigred1978

Forna sec I read that as,

“Just visited a mocrocentre as someone IN the UK”

    Heart jumped for a sec…

  26. Cypher786

Did you buy anything? If we had one in the UK, it would be so nice to be able to physically go and see the products before buying, and having somewhere to go back to for support/RMA. Currently, I’ve had to stick to [SCAN.COM](http://SCAN.COM), [Overclockers](http://Overclockers.co.uk) and Amazon and they are all online. Currently Currys/PC World are just prebuilts only and highly over priced at that.

If not going broke because of stupid policy is political, screw it, time to be pollical AF. Should have been this way a long time ago. I’m tired of fear and stupidity ruining every damned thing.
