
With the new TTK u would think LMG would finally be good, and no, they still take the same amount of time to kill someone as they did before. I still dont understand why Raven always has to make ARs be perfect, they can do cqb, they can do mid range and long range. Yet they wont do one shot snipers except for the hdr, won't make a single semi auto gun good, it's always the same buffs and nerf to make smgs and ARs the only viable guns. The LMGs also are supposed to be the guns with the high ammo yet ARs can put extended mag 2 with some just having a 100 round drum, whats the point of ever choosing an LMG? When any AR is a better choice. The only good LMG is the Feng, which plays more like an AR than an LMG.

Solid point. Not a bad idea to limit ARs to 30 or 40 rounds. It’s just a game but no one is using more, it’s not practical.

The xmg is still pretty competitive. But it is disappointing. My favorite lmg was the raal. Which USED to hit like a truck but shot kinda slow. Unforgiving to missed shots but if you’re on point they’d melt. Was also able to SHRED vehicles as it was 338 norma rounds. Now it’s worthless. Hopefully they give us some other viable lmg options. They already have a lot of drawbacks, make it good enough to compete if aimed down sight
I’d make all LMG’s hit like a truck but your movement speed with them slow AF to balance them. Slow AF when aiming down sights too. Make all AR’s 40/50 round extended mag max.
I dont mind High capacity mags on ARs..(give them more penalitys) but i think LMGs should have build in that ammo that disable tac Sprint and that ammo that increase enemy flinch to create a suppression effect.
Also i would love to see some Love for the DM10 and tsarkov.. more range, damage and a Switch to AR/lmg ammo or at least increased spare ammo
Warzone has been out for like what 5-6 years? They’ve tried these things and they always had to be reverted/nerfed.
ARs are just the perfect mix of a little bit of this and a little bit of that. That’s what they are. You get a nice baseline mobility, average mag size, average recoil, everything is just the most average baseline thing.
Every gun in a class does something a tiny bit better than all the others. One might do slightly more damage, one might shoot slightly faster, one more range, one less recoil etc etc, but they all have a counter built in. The one that does more damage has more recoil. The one that has further range does less damage. Stuff like that.
Plus it’s how you build your gun with attachments that changes the gun. Attachments might give more recoil control but with decreased range. Some might have a bigger mag but you move and aim slower. Stuff like that.
You can look back in time and see all these things have happened and they are trying to learn from their mistakes. Sometimes they do it on purpose cause it is fun for a little bit, but it all eventually needs to be balanced somehow.
Examples: (a lot of these guns were added after the game released)
AR: the OG Grau. Thing hit like a truck, didn’t necessarily need an optic so you could put another attachment on, good recoil control, good range. It was so good everyone was using it and they had to nerf it
SMG: MAC-10. Thing spit bullets. If you were in a room you could 1v2 even 1v3 people. It almost wasn’t shooting bullets it was like a water gun just a stream of damage. Very good movement, very fast shooting, perfect close range gun. Again, everyone was using it
LMG: Bruen. You could put a 60 round mag on it instead of the standard belt fed. Made it very mobile for an lmg. High damage, very accurate. It was one of the most popular lmgs in warzone history.
Rifles: DMR. Everyone remembers the DMR. When this thing came out it was like the apocalypse. This must be a top 3 most broken warzone weapons. A semi auto rifle, insane range, insane damage you could 3 shot from practically any distance, INSANE FIRE RATE FOR NO REASON ON A SEMI AUTO. You didn’t even need a secondary. 5 feet away or 5000 feet away this thing was disgusting. PTSD inducing to this day.
Snipers: I’m gonna throw the Kar98 in the sniper category, I believe it was when it first came out? I could be wrong. Anyway, a highly mobile, fast aiming, fast shooting, high damage, high range, do it all sniper. There was a point, and was still this way up till recently, where this was the only sniper worth using. Enough said
Shotguns: DOOF DOOF. Not an smg in sight. Just AR or sniper or lmg with a secondary multi-double-shot dragons breath 16 shot shotgun. Zero counter play. Whoever shot first won. Also gotta be top 3 most annoying. Also PTSD inducing. Everyone also remembers this gun it was that bad and annoying.
So as you can see they have gone above and beyond making the most fun yet extremely broken and unbalanced nightmare at least once in every class. They have learned a lot. Like you were saying, why don’t they buff other classes besides ARs or rifles or something? Because they can only be so powerful until it’s the only thing people are using and that’s no fun for anyone. There are other guns in other classes that are viable!!! The key is changing your playstyle. Use a marksman rifle and play like a hunter. Take engagements at medium long range and 4 shot someone. Support your squad and play an lmg, so when they push you can stay behind and shoot over your teammates and suppress the enemy. Stuff like that

The answer in my opinion is that most people (myself included) think LMG metas are boring so the devs don’t want to bother having any of them be competitive.
All of warzone 2 was an lmg meta. Most of last year was an lmg meta where I think all of them had their time in the sun.
Make them absolutely shred vehicles, that would help

The only way to achieve a true meta with each gun of each respective category being represented is if they start vaulting accessories to limit how you can build your weapon.
SMG being allowed ads attachment
AR being allowed ADS speed movement
Lmg being allowed mag size
Marksman being allowed velocity attachments
Sniper allowed damage range
Etc….
But that would be against the soul of cod and people would go crazy

The PKM had one of the best damage profiles for the entire original run of Verdansk. Me and my friends used it and you were never going to be outdamaged heads up. To me that is the epitome of what the LMG class should be. Terrible movement. Terrible reload time. Best mid range sustained damage. But if their DPS numbers are being overshadowed by ARs it makes them useless.
