To be completely honest I still cannot believe this has happened.

What started out as a simple post showing the world of reddit that I had introduced my son to the world of pc gaming for the first time here at r/pcmasterrace

Shortly followed by an innocent comment by u/zakabog offering to send my son a free upgrade.

The cynic in me instantly assumed this was some form of ruse to obtain my personal details, but in DM'S u/zakabog assured me all he wanted was my home address and nothing more. We talked and realised that although I was based in the uk he is from the states, I said not to worry about getting the upgrade to me as shipping parts would be an expensive endevour for him, However he told me not to worry and that shipping wasnt an issue. This made me think he may be offering to send me his old gpu or something of that nature as it would be better than what I had installed for my son and he asked for my sons new pc build spec.

As I'm away from home and didn't have it to hand I managed to obtain it from an old PC specialist ad from when the PC was originally on sale ( I had gotten it 2nd hand for my boy) and u/zakabog then took the time to find the details he was looking for.

Around an hour or two later he sent me a list of parts he had not just sent 2nd hand but ordered for me and my son to build together BRAND NEW! but when I began to look at them I realised im complete disbelief he had purchased us a COMPLETE BUILD including case!!!!!

A few issues with ordering between the US and the UK over the weekend again thank you u/zakabkg you have a patience of a saint. (Bloody amazon UK support was useless, Scan computers uk for the win!) The packages have just arrived with the parts he had sent us.

Words cannot describe just how greatful I am to this unbelievably kind stranger. I hope to one day return the favour and will most certainly be trying to pay the kindness forward to the best of mine and my sons abilities.

Thank you u/zakabog for everything you've done for me and my family we are truly blown away by such a selfless act.

This man is a true saint and I can't be any kinder about my interaction with him he's reduced a 38 year old grown man to tears of joy today.

Thank you so much sir words will never do justice to just what this means to us.

Thank you again from all at the vwfil household.

Much love and a life of health and prosperity to you and your family. May all your games be victorious.

That’s a nice write-up. I think we all needed something to smile about today, especially a gesture of kindness from a person of one country to a person of another.

Hell yeah, I just did a build with the same case and psu a few days ago. I will say though, the HDD bay on this case is so inconveniently placed/designed i just wound up taking it out.. but its such a clean, simple nice looking case overall. Im stoked for you & your son.

Hey, I think I recognize that case. Is that a H7 Flow? Fantastic choice for a build! You’ll appreciate the roominess for hooking things up, plus the great thermals 👍

I was going to do a 4090 giveaway when I got a 5090, but Nvidia only released 5 of those apparently, I’m even happier helping someone really get to enjoy PC gaming with a full build. After sending blood and stool samples to Amazon just for them to turn around and ask for more I’m glad Scan came through.

u/vwfil I hope you have lots of fun building and playing on this with your kids!

    Happy PC gotcha day!

Sharing the gift of a PC is awesome. I try to do this locally and it is tough to find someone I know that needs a computer. For me folks find it tough to accept a large gift.

Currently waiting for a friend to get back to me, he is in a similar situation and I plan on donating parts to build his first system. I’ve been really good finding deals on new and used components.

Also know that for a lot of kids, a computer is a gateway to a lot of things. I started setting up computers when I was 8 and that interest remains to this day.
