Made £100 increase on my huntsman knife emerald I copped last month.
I feel like this recent increase is much better than others in the past because it's not going at an absurd rate, and it's aligned with the growth of the game itself, which is why it seems like there's no specific reason. I don't deal with super expensive skins, but what i've been seeing for the more normal side of things is that if you have skins that look good and/or have some historical relevance you're pretty much set to at least not lose relevant value. That said, if you expect the value to increase, then it's worth spending that "litte" bit more on better floats, or to speculate on certain stickers that may contribute in the long run
