Anyone feels a weird attachment to old games that are rendered obsolete by it’s newer installments?

I do feel it with many franchises being an excellent example Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi all its games are great because good games always come but the originals if it was thanks to them there would not been franchises so they deserve attachment and appreciation.

I’ll die on the hill that Star Wars Battlefront (2004) was better than Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005).

    Puyo puyo Tetris

One of the only demos on switch with good content

You can play the game free, but you’re mainly paying for the story mode

Yea Left4dead1 had a certain vibe that basically died once they put those maps in the second game but those 2 things are not the same.

Those maps just arent that fun when you have to play them with the new features from the second game. They werent balanced around the new melee weapons and new infected etc..

Mount and Blade. I think that the original Warband and Blood&Gold are better then Bannerlord

I think there are tons of examples of original games being better than their new entries, often due to numerous things perceived as flaws.

For example, im playing through the Dead Space Remake for the nth time, which I love. However, the original Dead Space is one of the most miserable and terrifying games ever made – it’s superior to its remake because it’s meaner, harder, and filled with endless frustration. The remake has countless sequences that are a cakewalk compared to the original sequences. These sequences in the original were unforgettable because of how frustrating they were. Dark Souls versus watered down Dark Souls 3 is another great example of this idea. Sometimes, inconvenience and frustration are valuable in a game.

every generation reminisces nostalgically – often through rose-tinted glasses – about their youth.
those who grew up with video games as a beloved passtime will accordingly project their nostalgia there as well.

    nihil sub sole novum

I miss call of duty and war games not having as good of a campaign anymore.

As a kid I loved Tony Hawks Underground, (and skateboarding in general) but skating does not seem to have as much mainstream popularity anymore. So I haven’t really seen any new Skate games even.

There are much better RPGs now, but I loved Jak and Daxter games.

I still prefer Morrowind to any other Elder Scrolls title and have loved it since I was in second grade.

I’ve played it on Xbox and PC and it is still a game I can play any time without getting bored.
