My dad didn’t give me this game before Christmas. But my mom did. Thanks mom 🙂

What a game. One of the best I’ve ever played. Ugh, memories…

Favorite childhood game of all time. I screamed when they announced the remake.

Only 980 more years and the name will be accurate

This game is a top 10 rpg of all time easily. Music and art style are top notch, story and characters are memorable, and turn-based combat.

Love the game, been thinking about getting it on the switch.

One of my favorite games of all time. I thought the remake was even better, I’m still baffled they managed to make a masterpiece even better… Oh yeah, back tracking short cuts.

Used to rent this game frequently from Blockbuster until I got it for Christmas one year. One of my favorite games ever.

I’m very happy it was remade. It’s really solid although there’s some minor things I dislike from it.

The definitive sleeper hit of my childhood.

Don’t even remember asking for it, or how I got it. But once I started playing I basically didn’t stop until the credits rolled.

Easily the most memorable versions of Mario characters for my money. Such a great game.

    Rawk Hawk baby!

Edit: oh wow, I had no idea I shared a birthday with one of my favorite games.

My favorite game of all time, even if it isn’t the best, it just came at a perfect time in my life. Loved the remake too, I’m pretty lucky in that regard, I think everyone sort of dreams of getting their favorite game rereleased so that everyone can experience them and mine ended up with a whole from the ground up remake.

The battles are great, numbers are nice and small so you can really get a scale for what’s actually happening in combat. The overall story isn’t anything amazing, but all the smaller stories the game tells through the adventure all add up and make up for it. Of course, the soundtrack is fun and I loved that they added dynamic tracks to the remake, really made listening to the same battle theme for hours a better experience.

If anybody hasn’t played this game, fire it up on emulator (as much as I’ll love this game I am not going to advise dropping almost $80 on it plus whatever it takes for the GameCube set up). Better yet, just get the remake, it makes a ton of improvements in top of the original like the backtracking and giving you better rewards for 100% completion.

Wow, so’s my marriage! I remember watching my wife play this on the GameCube I got her for our first Christmas while dating.

I’ve only just finished the remake last month, and I had no idea I’ve been sleeping on such a banger for 20 years. Easily the best dialogue of any game in my recent memory.

  15. So depressed it has already been 20 years since those days. I turn 40 tomorrow. Life is so short.

Funny I’m about to beat the remake today!

  17. No way in fuck it’s been that long.

Damn looking back at games I loved in the past I feel old sometimes

Legendary game. One of the only games my feeble 10 year old brain couldn’t beat
