But the low cpu temp thing comes from back in the day when the max temp was like 60-70°C on Desktop CPUs like the good ol Phenom II 955 where it was exactly 63°C

This is why you get a cpu or gpu in a laptop thats similar to the desktop, that you dont often get the same performance, they are down clocked and undervolted to allow them better stability at higher temperatures for longer. Ultimately the life span tends to be shorter on laptops, but not always, thats down the silicon lottery.

Mine barely gets 60°C on a hot summer day and stressing every last drop of performance out of it..
Worth noting it’s only a Ryzen 5, meanwhile it has a heatsink taking up like 40-50% of the inside of my laptop and also PTM7950 from the factory. Gotta love that Lenovo Legion.

My laptop has a i9-10855h, and for 3 years I swear that thing has been trying to boost itself to death. It still performs quite well (RTX 2070maxQ), has 64GB of RAM and a gorgeous 4k OLED display, but the thing just loves bouncing off tj-max. Even having repasted the thing, the thermals are always the same: really warm. But it’s been rock-solid reliable, and I’ve just learned to stop worrying because apparently it’s fine… this is fine.

No, it’s a working range. I’ve used gaming laptops for the last 12 years, and none of them had problems because of heating.

The nature of laptops makes them harder to cool. If a desktop is hitting 90 it’s not too difficult to resolve.
